Taken in its entirety, and taking into account the very few UN Agencies that are worthwhile, the United Nations has become a malign influence in world affairs. It would do Australia much good to reduce its participation in, and funding of, that malignancy. I regret to say however, that our diplomatic corps do not think in 'Australia's' interests, but rather in the interests of diplomacy per se. I have witnessed how our diplomats have moulded even the most irascible and sceptical of politicians into simpering fawns.
This is the same UN that knew nothing and did nothing about covid and where it came from and still hasn't.
Also the same UN that puts countries like China, Saudi Arabia and Iran on committees to stop human rights abuses.
The same UN that failed to do anything about 1 million people starving to death in North Korea in the 1990s, or Pol pot killing 30,% of the people in Cambodia in less than 3 years in the mid 1970s.
The same UN that has both Russia and China on its top Security Council with veto rights on any issue, after the Communists in Russia murdered more than 65 million of it's own citizens and China that also murdered more than 85 million of its citizens as partly documented in books like "Tombstone".
The same UN that helped put Robert Mugabe into power in the wealthy country of Southern Rhodesia/Zimbabwe, who reduced the whole country to starvation and selectively murdered whole people groups with not a word of protest from the woke at the UN.
The same UN that wants to save Australia's Great Barrier Reef and alter the Earth's temperature and force everyone to live poorer to stop climate change.
Who pays for this budding world government? We do through our taxes.

No great surprises there. In April 2017 Donald Trump commented on the "utter weakess and incompetency of the UN". He said the UN is not a friend of democracy, not a friend of the US and is surely not a friend of Israel. The media at the time was too busy denigrating Mr Trump instead of listening to his prophetic words.
