I remember it all so well Bob.

I was in the Federal Police at that time and became a member of the security protection team for Fraser. Very interesting times.

Ask and Ye shall receive.

Pauline Hansen is proposing to move a vote of no confidence in the Senate today.

It will be interesting to see who doesn’t back the motion.

Good thought Dianne.

We’re fast becoming a third world country so that would fit right in.

They came to power playing such "dirty politics"........starting way back with Christian Porter, probably further.....and so it goes on.....BUT karma always comes back!! They've tried to drag everyone down to their level.....the Libs have retained a quiet dignity which they do not uderstand.

Live by the sword, die by the sword....

What an utter disgrace these people are, they are incompetent and don't care. GET RID OF THEM ALL

seems to me that "truth is stranger than fiction ". You could hardly write such a ridiculous, embarrassing script for this country of ours

Everything this government touches turns to excrement.

They will be consigned to history at the next election as the worst, most inept government to ever represent Australia and yet none of them show any signs of embarrassment because they are too stupid to recognise that they are stupid.

Surely there must be something that can be done to stop them going full term. Vote of no confidence? Dismissal by the GG? Anything? Anyone?

Well the GG got rid of Goofy Whitless in fine style. I laugh to myself when I hear songs about Gough . I was a pilot in PNG at the time and was an 'Honorary Engineer " in the army mess in Mendi(Southern Highlands District) When I got the good news on the radio I went to the club to pass it on The boys were all in ,beer in hand , waiting for the 1700 news. Every eye was on me, and not a sound.(if I had been wrong a lynching was imminent) The troops were so dev-estated by the news that there was free piss in that mess for two weeks He and his mob of clowns were as sorely missed as boil on the arse

How about a coup?

I'd personally like to see the people revolt and march up to parliament and literally toss them out!

That would be excellent, toss them into jail

As has been strongly stated on SKYNews by your team, and all the pm reporting and opinions, The Albanese’s govt., is completely out of their depth in every portfolio: law & order, energy, the economy, cost of living, defence, water resources. If I have forgotten anything - do add it.

Giles and O’Neil must surely be replaced asap. What has happened is a complete disgrace.

I’m thinking it should be easy to drop them all at an airport in their own country’s. I can’t understand why we haven’t done that already. It seems stupid to keep them here locked up or otherwise.

Could it be possible that their own countries went to a lot of trouble and expense to get them on a boat to get rid of them Knowing that they wouldnt see them back with this mob of gutless wonders running (ruining)this country ?

Expand full comment

Yes I suspect we’re gullible enough to let that happen.

Profound and deep incompetence is the hallmark of this government. I cannot quite believe how incompetent they are. If Macron has noticed then we are in deep trouble. France is a complete mess under his regime.

If “long term detention is unlawful”, then let us hope that this predator gets a very long term jail sentence (if found guilty of said charges - addendum)

It's important to point out that he is innocent until proven guilty.

He has not yet entered a plea. Has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance scheduled next year.

Expand full comment

ah the old innocent till proven guilty ploy, like the saying goes 'the law is an ass'! I certainly hope that if he is guilty he has the book thrown at him and gets deported, but I fear our government and courts are too weak for that.

So we have a bunch of dimwits in Canberra that cannot foresee an obvious issue with detainees that may be a risk to the community, but they can ram through bills that are 1000 pages long and include legislation pertaining to digital IDs that will likely affect all of us. No real thought about why they are there to represent. No consideration that 69% of the population didn’t put them as fist choice...

Didn’t Whitlam get dismissed for, less than this....?

This really is just an appalling situation...

I don't remember the Whitlam government. I hear they were bad. Very bad. But surely this Albanese Government is approaching all-time worst. Even Rudd-Gillard-Rudd seemed better than this lot!

Not really. They are making the same mistakes. Behaving like kids let loose in a sweet shop. I

The Whitlam government was scandal-ridden. John Kerr, the Governor General, had no choice but to dismiss it.

I remember the Whitlam Government very well, they were a disaster ans Gough, when he was sacked was very sour. What bwe have now is 10 times worse because they are bowing to the WEF

Expand full comment

Where is our Governor General, David Hurley, to pull this Albanese government into line? I suspect he is hiding under his desk!

Expand full comment

The Liberaks blocked supply so John Kerr had no choice. The Whitlam government spent everything and then some. As a beginning teacher I remember tens and hundreds dress if thousands of dollars arriving at school and then having g to spend it immediately or lose it. Then our salaries increased from $20,000 a year to over $30,000 all at once. Then they had the Khemlani loan affair and more. So much like now.

Expand full comment

The royal family haters who want a Republic always complain that the Governor General sacked the Labor govt and called another election, the 3rd in about 4 years but forget the voters overwhelming supported Kerr's decision in one of the biggest landslide election results in Aust history.

The inflation rate was through the roof and Labor did not have the numbers in the parliament to pass the mad budget. Some of whitlams ministers should have gone to prison for their corruption

Expand full comment

Yes, I can remember the Khemlani loan affair. Then there was the news that Whitlam would confiscate people's bank accounts to finance government. Fraser had blocked supply. I was in Darwin at the time and quickly withdrew my $400, (!) savings out of my account. Ever since I opened my own bank: the mattress bank.

We had just bought our first house for $18,000 and I felt trapped when it all happened. You had $400 in the bank, I think we had about $10. We went from paying $10 a week rent to $40 a week in repayments at 9% interest
