You Wouldn't Trust the Greens with Nana's Soup Recipe ...
So why would we let them within cooee of classified defence information?
You wouldn’t trust the Greens with your grandmother’s soup recipe. So why would you trust them with Australia’s national secrets?
And yet that’s exactly where we could end up after the establishment of a powerful joint parliamentary committee on defence.
The Albanese Government put aside $17.5m in the budget for the establishment of the committee, despite protestations from senior defence figures that the committee was not a good idea.
The committee, to be comprised of 13 MPs and senators appointed by the PM, will get access to classified defence papers and be able to request behind-closed doors, high level briefings on the defence of our nation.
Greens Senator David Shoebridge says it is “critical” that the Greens get a representative on the committee.
He told the Weekend Australian …
“Over the next 10 years the defence budget is estimated to be three-quarters of a trillion dollars, funding some of the most complex and high-risk procurement projects the commonwealth has ever undertaken.
“It would be reckless to limit the oversight of those projects.”
It would be reckless to allow the Greens anywhere near these projects.
The Greens are a fringe activist party, hostile to AUKUS, hostile to Israel and hostile to Australia’s national interests.
When was the last time you heard the Greens argue for Australian interests to come before those of other nations or those of supranational organisations?
If Albanese gives a seat on the defence committee to the Greens, he might as well give one to the Chinese Communist Party and another one to Hamas while he is at it.
The defence of our nation is a conversation best left to adults. The Marxist, anarchist Greens whose wet dreams revolve around destroying our nation, should be no where near it.
The Greens are the “old” Communist Party. And if we continue to be naive enough to believe that their interests are aligned with Australia and Australians then we are very naive indeed.
Shadow Defence Minister Andrew Hastie summed it up beautifully. He said that if the Greens want to be close to what’s going on in national security …
“They are welcome to pitch a tent on the parliamentary lawn.”
I would argue that even that is too close.
The latest Newspoll has the Greens primary vote at 13 per cent. And the danger, of course, is that the Albanese Government is not averse to dealing with the Greens in order to get legislation through the parliament.
Remember, it was only a few months ago that Albanese said he was keen to partner with the Greens on drafting a Religious Discrimination Bill. That’s like partnering with a fox to draw up plans for the security of the hen house.
We live in dangerous, dangerous times.
The Australian greens must be denied access to this committee. In my opinion it is downright dangerous for our nation to allow them anywhere near it.
The Greens are a security, a political, and a moral threat to our society. They must be opposed at every level, especially at anything like a serious security level.
