What Part of 'No' Don't They Understand?
Government insists it is committed to treaty and truth-telling
Less than 48 hours after Australians overwhelmingly said ‘No’ to an Indigenous Voice to Parliament, the Labor Party has reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
What part of ‘No’ don’t they understand?
Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles told The Australian that the ALP remained committed to establishing a Makarrata commission to supervise treaty-making and truth-telling.
Which begs the question, are these guys idiots?
Marles ruled out another attempt at constitutional recognition but reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the Uluru Statement from the Heart in full, which asks for voice and a Makarrata commission to oversee treaty and truth-telling.
Good grief! People voted against the Voice, in large part, because they didn't want a treaty. It was hiding in plain sight right behind the Voice.
As for truth-telling, if Indigenous activists can’t tell the truth about what happened on Saturday (they blame misinformation for the referendum’s failure) what hope telling the truth about the events of 200 years ago?
Here’s some truth telling. Sixty per cent of Australians said ‘No’ at the weekend.
Politicians who have spent 18 months banging on about the need to listen might want to listen to our voice.
Albanese needs to get back to his day job and govern for the 97 per cent of Australians whom he has ignored for the past year.
The arrogance of this government is staggering.
The Australian population just voted 60-40 against the Uluru Statement and yet Albanese will continue to implement it anyway.
Our state premiers are no better than our federal government.
Tasmanian Premier Jeremy Rockliff, the nation’s most senior office-holding Liberal who backed the Voice, vowed to progress treaty, truth telling and potentially a state-based voice.
This, despite 59 per cent of Tasmanians voting ‘No’.
You have to hand it to to him. It takes a special kind of tin ear to to keep pushing the woke narrative no matter what the facts, or what the people say.
Does Rockcliff, who leads a minority government, want electoral oblivion?
Australia was clear in its rejection of race activists. So what do politicians do? They announce that they will simply choose a different activist path.
Primary school children are taught that ‘No’ means no. Why can’t our political class understand that?
I got an email just before the voice from Rockliff saying hello and how can I help with anything. No idea how he got my email?? I was planning to answer him by asking him how he voted Yes and why he was wrong and how I knew it was a complete lie and didn't he get that? Now I have just read your article...thank you more to put in my reply to him. It wont be kind. I will probably start with How dare you ...
I agree with Bella that they had a bigger Agenda. They needed our First Nation people as a separate "nation" to be able to treat with them, to manipulate their woke politicians and Elders so they could force Australia's compliance in their O.W. Agenda. And they're not stopping, so we need to speak up. Thanks for your engaging voice in all this. May God bless, strengthen and protect you and your family.
