The cultural elite are missing the point that most aboriginal people themselves voted no. They are blind to anything but their own misguided ideology.

Do those that claim to Be part Aboriginal racist themselves for the other part? The concept if Race at work there.

I was surprised to hear how many of these dinosaurs had read the UN agenda for first nations people and how they would use it to gain control of countries in the west that fall for their plans.

It is good to see people do their own research instead of believing the misinformation our government are giving us. It had nothing to do with making the lives of aboriginals better. It was about to make their lives much worse if this divisive change had been allowed with the have-nots being very envious of their privileges.

They will now turn their attention to solving the cost of living crisis, but I am guessing they will fail again as they have no experience in solving problems, but they sure know how to create them.

They sound like they are setting us up for their "Ministry of truth" misinformation legislation by blaming our "mistake" on us being so gullible that they will have to filter everything we read and hear.

I would describe myself a "centrist" (intentional small c). However, I am "a swinger" in that I change and vote whichever way seems to hold the best solutions, at the time! What I find most unpleasant about our politics.... (maybe all politics?) is the sneering smugness that seems to beset those who comment This because it dehumanises and demonises the other side which, as we all know, can lead to awful things (as we see in the ME right now). Well done, you guys, for having supported the winning side, and for showing such gratitude and grace in victory - quite ennobling! BTW ... a small point here ... the aboriginal folk, it turns out, voted possibly as high as 78% YES. But that's pretty irrelevant, it was not about them ... it was about how we feel about them, and now we know!

Thanks, James for an excellent and humorous appraisal of events that have unfolded and the irrelevance of those dedicated to enforcing their rules and attempts to divide us. Reality check, tick 😁

Regarding Philip Adam's (a self-declared atheist) ability to rational thinking, I remember an article he published in a national newspaper on the occasion of the 50th anniversary (1995) of the end of WW2 wherein he passionately suggested that the almost completely destroyed city of Berlin (May 1945) should be left for ever in that state - as a "monument".

What the elites don’t admit too is that they are the reason our First Nations don’t flourish. These people in the outback towns are used as pawns to get money from the government are told not to rock the boat to improve. This is what’s happening in all countries with indigenous peoples and is being used to bring western nations down. We white fellas are heartless and unsympathetic to the black fellas. A full audit of cash handed out over the last 50 years to organisations run by the elites for the indigenous needs to be done and explanations given for poor outcomes. The First Nation people’s also need to admit the violence within their communities and the abuse of children and accept help too overcome it. Their children need to go to school to break the cycle of unemployment!

Maybe the NO vote succeeded because we are soooo lazy , we wanted a word with 2 letters, not three. 😎

Someone wrote that Dutton and Abbott are responsible for dividing the Nation by supporting the NO Vote. I replied that it was because the question and a Yes vote would divide the Nation was why Dutton and Abbott were supporting the NO Vote.

AND now we have the "week of mourning".......OMG these lefties are so disrespectful....how about mourning for lives lost in Israel last week and also now the dreadful situation in Gaza...not only Israelis killed but now innocent Palestinians, victims of Hamas.

Thanks you James, another wonderful depiction of our sooks here that have the hide to call themselves Australian....Australians DON'T sook...Australians get on with it....Australians are NOT racist, we never ever have thought our indigenous people don't deserve the fruits of this land.

Thank you Australia, 60% of you, for standing up....maybe one day the lefties will thank you too!!!

Brilliant James.

Entirely unsurprising but worth noting all the same is that than none of the woke leftists now in their denial phase have made any attempt to consider why people voted NO.

Aside from the standard “racist” explanation of course.

Jordan Peterson once observed that right wing people can typically explain both sides of an argument (not that this makes them correct), but that left wingers are often incapable.

This is a very clear example of that.

It's telling isn't. The inability of the Left for self reflection is quite astonishing. And, of course, it means that they never stop with their bad ideas. Their response to the referendum defeat will be to regroup and to come back even harder. This is far from over.

They will sneak in through the backdoor. Bob Hawke wanted to "introduce" the Australia Card. That was voted down and out. So we got a de facto Card anyway: Driver's Licence or any document with a photo ID.

Very true. We’re dealing with people with the mental defects of being unable to self examine and grow through self criticism, unable to take adult responsibility and unable to discern. Add ungraciousness and bad manners to that. Summing up, they’re just very badly behaved brats. They would have been murder in the school yard!

I agree with that 100%. Activists almost by definition have no other raison d’être.

Well said James. In his defeat speech, Albo, rather than quote Churchill should have taken heed of Churchill; “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference”!!
