This is from a story from London from a piece by Mary Wakefield in the The Spectator about a "Say my Name" exercise in the public service, designed to convey the correct pronunciation of names in signing off correspondence.

The Say My Name movement actually began in a reasonable fashion in America s part of the anti-racist business. African American names are often mispronounced, the theory goes, and so a phonetic guide spares people the need to constantly correct their colleagues. But it's astonishing the

speed with which 'allies' now co-opt - colonise, perhaps - the things devised for minor y groups.

Within a year, Say My Name had made its way into universities and institutions, both in America and

the UK, where it swiftly became a code of conduct everyone must participate in - a test of loyalty.

The Met Office, owned by the Department for Science, is full of enthusiasm about pronunciation, and in a list of its Diversity and Inclusion highlights for 2022-23 there is a detailed description of how they approached the process. First came an 'Empathy Lab', a three-day event for nearly 300 employees in partnership with some thing called 'All Able'.

It's a mistake to rush into something as significant as spelling, so no actual decision was made

but a steering group was formed to 'grow knowledge and skills of digital accessibility across the

Met Office'. After an untold number of further meetings, the steering group has decided, cautiously, to introduce an 'audio name badge'. I'm unsure quite how an audio name badge works. Do you

press the other person's? That seems intrusive. Do you proudly press your own at intervals in the

office?

The most significant objection to an imported fad like Say My Name is that although it's of no real

use to civil servants, it's extremely handy for any of their HR minded overlords. It sorts the

problematic dissenters from the agreeable compliant types in no time. It's just a shame for the

country that it's the civil servants who have the guts not to sign up who are exactly the ones it

needs most.

Did anyone else notice the inconsistent media coverage of Cyclone Jasper in FNQ and the flooding that occurred following that? There were several journalists up there in various places just before Jasper hit, going on and on about how devastating this cyclone is and how much damage it would cause, as though this category 1 or 2 cyclone was going to be another Yasi or Tracy or something. I thought that the journalists looked like nitwits standing out in the rain, shouting like drama queens. One of them even breathlessly shouted about how there are trees uprooted all over the place. But when I looked at the scene behind her, I couldn't see one tree that was uprooted. The locals up there understood better. They described it as a 'friendly cyclone' because that is exactly what it was. They were not worried about the cyclone itself. The cyclone itself was no more damaging than a typical low.

But when the flood occurred straight after the cyclone, where was the media then? It took days before I could find any media coverage about this event. And yet, it was the flood, not the cyclone, that shook the whole of Cairns. The locals were in a state of shock (they still are) because they had never seen this kind of flooding in their whole life. My parents have lived in Cairns for 39 years and have never witnessed flooding anywhere near this level for the entire time they have been there. They say this flooding was worse than the 1977 flood and some say it is unprecedented. And yet, while rivers were rising and overflowing and houses were being inundated - for a couple days, I could not find any media reports on this situation. It wasn't until a few days later, that the media started reported on it.

Very well spoken James! Keep up the great work! 😊

Just think - well over 300 million dollars of hard working tax-payer's money is fed to these nitwits annually, so that they can tell us that it's going to be hot this summer! They won't be able to tell you that the roof of your house is likely to blow away in the storm later today, or that your house will be flooded tomorrow, but they will definitely be able to tell you that the earth will be boiling in 50 years time!

Well, when it comes to the weather, many of us are already boiling - boiling with anger because of the deceit at the hands of the government, the continual gross exaggeration at the hands of the media and the incompetence to deliver facts and accurate and timely forecasts, at the hands of the BOM.

ABC $billions..BOM $billions Energy Grid. $billions It's currently 11.30am and pitch black outside as a storm rages over my district. My solar panels aren't creating any energy but my extractor fans on the roof are whirring as the wind pushes the rain horizontal to the ground. My swimming pool is overflowing, the garden is a bog but I have electricity thanks to the power station running on that demonic coal! Bowen ergonomics are useless in Australia. North Queensland is in flood, south east Queensland is without power due to tornado recently. What good is a couple of hundred acres of solar panels likely covered in water, or magnificently ugly tall wind turbines flapping around and swatting hailstones like demonic baseball batsmen, if you can't use it?

Stoke the fires in the power stations you blokes. We luv ya and the power you send maintains our lifestyle. (Bet yer boots Bowen still has connection to a power plant!)

That reminds me of a story I heard some time ago. - The aboriginal chief of a tribe in the Northern Territory died and a younger man took over. He was expected to know everything, including the weather events. As he didn't have a clue how to predict the weather and winter was on the way, he sent some of the people out to gather some wood for their fires. He deecided to ring the weather bureau in Sydney and ask if they could tell him if it would be a cold winter, the answer - yes it might be,- so he sent the peopple out to gather more wood for this coming cold winter. He rang the bureau again and asked if it would be a really cold winter and they assured him it would be pretty cold, so they gathered more wood. The chief rang the bureau a third time and was assured it would be a very cold winter. When the chief asked the meterologist in Sydney how he knew, this is the answer he got - We have been observing the aborigines in the Northern territory via sattelite and they are gathering a huge amount of wood so they know it will be a cold winter, therfore we also know!

The Australian would not print my comment:

"The BOM needs a clean-up. It has become deranged by climate nonsense, and so can't focus on the weather anymore. And so obsessed with issues of risk, that it lacks any sense of judgment. And so dismissive of past records that is blind to events past. Time to clean it all up, get the wokery and ideology out."

Cap Allon on Electroverse said the same thing about the BOM. They don’t seem to understand what is happening with weather and definitely don’t look at what the sun is doing.

The BOM has deteriorated since they drank the Kool aid and started manipulating the weather data.

James- I struck last night when you said- the BOM predicted a dry El Niño summer- it’s been anything but.

Thanks James. This is so disturbing. I have a niece on the Goldy who lost all of her fresh & frozen food because the power was out for so long. I also have a niece in Cedar Vale with no power for almost a week so far and the next update apparently not coming until Jan 5. Thankfully they have a generator but it’s not for the entire house.

Sounds like a good basis for modular nuclear power imo.

That’s a developing world scenario. Something is seriously wrong with power grid.

Probably a scenario to be repeated as we follow Barmy Bowen the zealot down his climate change black hole.
