The Sydney Mardi Gras must surely be one of the most obscene public events held anywhere in the world today and to realise that millions of tax payers hard earned dollars are filtered off to support it when the money would be better spent on more needy and deserving sections of society is disappointing to say the least.
We human beings can get so much wrong in life and the actions of some politicians, but thankfully not all, leave much to be desired.
Oh for more in Government to have a healthy fear of God and govern this country of Australia with wisdom and integrity.
I’m surprised to hear about this complete waste of taxpayer funds. Why isn’t there some kind of control over where our money goes? Personally I can’t understand why so many people even go to the alphabet parade.
"Get Qantas to pay for it." Love it! Great idea. I can just imagine the leading float decked out like an aeroplane complete with a blow-up Alan Joyce at the front holding a Bud-Lite. "Proudly sponsored by Qantas".
Governments fund this sort of stuff all the time. As it brings in tourism, the tourists spend, the economy benefits etc etc blah blah blah…
However, after achieving “equality & acceptance” from the broader community it seems to me the gay community has morphed into the alphabet community which is really a series of groups that don’t get along with one another & they’ve lost the plot insofar-as they don’t need the Mardi Gras as they should consider themselves merely as part of the general community…but they don’t!
I also question what the “T” is doing with the LGBQI++ as the latter are (I think?) sexual preferences whereas the “T” is gender related not sexual… 🤷🏼♂️🤦♂️
Inclusion, sustainability, equity, self aggrandisement, wast of money, cost of living crisis, climate crisis, save the planet.......let me off this one!
The photo used in your article James, seems to be from that 1978 parade, as those shown have lost the plot on a lost cause. Maybe they'll be petitioning The Federal Treasurer for more funds tonight?
It is fair that the Arts including the GMG ,if indeed it is within that definition, fund themselves not depending on public funding. Churches do, all the time. Their welfare budget gets funding, of course it does, because it is doing that work for the government and for taxpayers. but the arts don't do that kind of work.
Imagine the uproar if say, any tax dollars were given to Australia's Christians so they could have a march...my goodness, heads would roll! The circus would well and truly arrive in town with plenty of self funded opposition to that! "How dare a government give our tax dollars to those regressive numpties stupid enough to believe in a magic sky fairy!" they would cry..."We have all the fairying covered thank you very much!...and give that money to us...thank you!"
Inclusively and with all equality...the (new) Australian way.
Wow, I had no idea we were propping up the great festival of all things evil. If it ain't sustainable by now then it might be time to look at their financial management practices. Is there some dodgy book keeping going on? Perhaps they believe their parade operates on fairy dust. Either way, I'd be calling for an Audit.
Nothing shouts diversity, equity and inclusion louder than handouts from leftist idealogues in power desperate to signal their virtue, ignore an enormous cohort of their electorate (who also happen to be their employers) and waste vast sums of hard earned taxpayer funds on pointless parades promoting sexual preferences, predilections and perversions.
Another outstanding example of financial dereliction of duty.

Let them pay for their own party.
Make the alphabet people pay a thousand bucks a head to enter this sodomistic display!!! How big would the parade be then???

Proud, proudly. pride - these words are sooo thrashed out and trite, they churn my stomach.

Yes. the LGBTQ "community" does seem to be something of a myth.
Most Ls despite Gs
Most Gs regard Ls as uptight and bitchy
Ls and Gs regard Bs as being in denial
Ls Bs and Gs are worried that Ts will replace render them meaningless
True true 🙏🏽
NO! NO! NO! Definitely do not fund them. If they can't pay for their fetishes themselves, they shouldn't have their deviant parade
Pay or no pay - they shouldn't have it at all.

Maybe they could do the odd sausage sizzle at Bunnings to make a bit like more deserving charities have to do.
poor people at Bunnings
Thanks for this article. The hypocrisy is staggering.
