Mr Dutton needs to have a long look at what he said. An abomination to agree with the Biblical view? Supports freedom of religion? Legs on two sides of the fence doesn’t work.

I like Dutton, however all the liberal party has become is a light woke version of Labor they are too afraid of being vilified by the media and all these interest groups

I too have my doubts about Peter Dutton especially his ability to prosecute a strong counter argument. He might be a nice bloke but he seems unable to really mix it with the lefties. He needs some aggression to show the side he is fighting.

How can Dutton call for religious freedom and then call those Christian religious beliefs an abomination! I will ask him in the Spectator when it goes online.

On this beautiful Christmas Day I celebrate being a Christian with all its faults and fragility.

Christianity, has a discipline to live by, as do all religions….it gives us standards which sadly are slowly being undermined. Christianity from my very limited vision gives us love, hope and humility…..and I confess I’m not even a church goer!!

The Liberals and I hope Dutton is our man, need to grow some and stand up to this absolute flim flam Labor supported by the fraudulent independent Teals. They are all the abomination here!

Well said James … you were on point in this whole issue and Mr Dutton let us all down.

You really struck a nerve James. Excellent! I’d love to see him respond to your response. Unfortunately, many politicians will have their own brand of Christianity to get a few votes.

Extraordinary! I wrote to PD and said the same and got a missive form form lion reiterating his view that to believe the Christian view on the sanctity of life and same sex issues was an abomination. So he truly believes that. I have no confidence that PD has mainstream Christian views-he is politician interested in power only. watch him back track on the price caps in the new year and back in the Voice. I pray he will find some principles.

Merry Christmas to you and your family James. Also to your many wonderful readers.

I agree James and I also like Mr Dutton. If he put his foot in his mouth and didn't clearly state his views on the matter, then he needs to own it. I know what he said and it made me very sad. If he simply stated that he believed regarding religious freedom and left it at that all would be well. Perhaps Mr Dutton is still learning the ropes. If he was so concerned that the mainstream media were looking for ammunition he should have simply ended his comment by supporting an individual's rights. On a final note, since when is it ever an abomination to value the sanctity of life and family.

well done James . I too see this as a compliment to you. You were right and he was wrong

I like Dutton too and find this whole letter thing confusing but I don't think it's the first time Peter Dutton has mis-spoken or mis-understoond. It sounds like he's defending himself against something to come.

Dutton has to go he is not providing the conservative political position on anything the National Party is pulling out all the stops to remain in the coalition federally but if this continues they may need to detach off the sinking ship called the Liberal party....too many years at the helm Turnbull then ScoMo these two have absolutely left the Liberal political party as a scuttled wreck and now Dutton seems clueless about which way to turn...without a course correction the Liberal party is full steam ahead into irrelevance...they have not learnt from their losses so they may need to suffer further loss or find a better leader by a sheer miracle...Dutton would rather fire letters to James than fix himself....it says what we all need to hear Dutton requires a triple bypass and defibrillation because he is on life support at the moments..The Libs have reach a point were they need a godsend to right the ship...Climate change.., transgenderism and the voice to parliament require a resounding no but they won’t because they are worrying about trying to remain popular when they don’t realise that Labour is not popular either.... if they move to being conservative they could capture the freedom party votes and topple the Greens and Labour Party but they won’t... they have too many Green and leftists in their ranks... they agree to what I said needs a resounding no... we need a Liberal party that purges those who push it towards labour and the Greens and don’t see Dutton doing this!

So sad but true. And susann ley his deputy is an empty suit and completely useless. She stands for nothing and belongs to a nothing, liberal, woke, bishop sponge type Anglican church in Albury.

I hope Mr Dutton reads everything you write. He needs to hear what we are all thinking (which you have such a knack of figuring out).

Interesting letter. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t understand that comments like “I was strongly backing Mr Thorburn”, followed by an explanation of why he publicly approved of the anti-Christian reasoning behind Thorburn’s sacking, leave us all hoping that he doesn’t “strongly back” any of us for fear of the consequences.
