THE World Health Organisation has decided to rebrand, er, rename the monkeypox. WHO boss Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus said last week a new name was needed to avoid fuelling ‘discrimination and stigma’. Discrimination against monkeys? Really? What about chooks? Should we rename chicken pox, or do they fall afoul of government inaction because of where they sit in the pecking order?
The WHO have expressed their concerns re: the name Monkey Pox. As with Smallpox, the Spanish Flu, and the Black death, these particular names, amongst others, have displayed sinister implications of racism, discrimination & more recently, stigmatisation against our furry, banana loving, friends. ( Am I allowed to say that?) Therefore, as Covid19 & the above have already done the whole global pandemic thing, name changes have been suggested by unnamed eminent scientists so as to avoid PLAGUEerism & possible legal threats.
Put this whole thing into the right words and made it the mockery that it truly is. Thanks for the continued hilarious emails! It's the highlight of our day.
Yeah “Moneypox”is dead on-point.
