"The Earth Does Not Belong to Us" - King Charles
But if the earth does not belong to us, what then is Charles king of?
King Charles has told the international climate conference, without a hint of irony, that “the earth does not belong to us”.
Coming from one of the largest landlords in the world, this was a gem.
“The earth does not belong to us,” says Charles who literally calls himself a “king” of the earth.
If the earth does not belong to us, what then is Charles the king of?
His family directly owns 250,000 acres and land, and links through the Crown Estate to a further 615,000 acres in the UK.
But, straight faced, he told world leaders at COP28 …
“The earth does not belong to us, we belong to it.”
I suppose King Charles will now give up the 30 regal estates his family own?
I doubt it.
There's as much chance of that as there is that King Charles will stop flying on private jets to avoid traffic, all the while lecturing that emissions are destroying the earth.
Kings Charles might claim to belong to the earth, but it’s his belonging to the Church of England that worries me.
He is, after all, supposed to be the leader of the church. It’s a pity he doesn’t seem to attend.
If he did, he would be familiar with Psalm 115v16 …
“The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth He has given to mankind.”
So the earth does belong to us! (And Charles has, in turn, taken a fair chunk for himself!)
As for Charles’ claim that we belong to the earth, well, it’s simply not true. The climate cult is anti-reality and anti-growth. Little wonder it is destroying, rather than promoting, human flourishing.
The Genesis account of creation shows that the earth was created to serve us, not the other way around.
Genesis 1v26
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
The idea that we belong to the earth is a pagan idea. Christianity teaches that we are distinct from every other creature on earth because we alone are made in the image and likeness of God Himself.
Genesis 1v27
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
And mankind’s mandate is not to cautiously preserve some sort of naturalistic equilibrium, by limiting progress and apologising for prosperity. Instead, we are charged with expanding and growing and prospering the human race, using everything at our disposal to do so.
Genesis 1v28
“God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.’”
The Biblical mandate is the exact opposite of that being preached by the high priests of climate catastrophism.
“The elites cursed them and said to them, ‘Decarbonise and decrease in number; humans are a cancer on the earth who must reduce their footprint.’
The world has prospered because people understood our place in creation …
Genesis 1v28-29
“God said, ‘Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’
“Then God said, ‘I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it - I give every green plant for food.’
“And it was so.”
The gods of this age fly around the world from their castles and from their beachfront mansions insisting that nothing belongs to us.
The gods of this age wear crowns, and stay in six-star hotels, while insisting that the rest of us are nothing special, just a small part of a complicated eco-system that they need to manage in harmony with everything else.
Climate catastrophism regards the earth as a master to be served in the hope that she might allow a smaller number of us than presently exist to eke out a minimal existence. The success of our endeavours will be evidenced in that when we are gone there is no record of our endeavours or indeed of us having been here.
Christianity, on the other hand, regards the earth as a resource to be managed as part of our worship to God and in service to human flourishing.
Give me human championing King Jesus over human bashing King Charles any day!
I recognise and worship only one King James and he didn't wear animal furs and a crown of jewels, he wore a crown of thorns and King Chuck had better realise it and get ready to meet the eternal King.
Thank you and well written.
So over all the nonsense.
