A friend of ours joined the police force back in the 80s.

Did my wife give him heaps when she caught him jaywalking one day!!! 😂

James, I love your write-ups! A daily highlight, and I’ve forwarded and recommended to many, however….PLEASE stay true to our Aussie authenticity. We walk on footpaths and use pedestrian crossings. I don’t care if it’s not intentional terminology, it’s ours. I see the Australia I love been changed beyond recognition, and so perhaps I’m clinging to any semblances of who we are 🇦🇺 ❤️

So, if you are trying to escape from being assaulted make sure you jay walk/run so as to attract the attention of the SA Police.

Welcome to the new Police Academy .Today, we are going to start you off teaching you how to jump on J walkers. When you have that down pat, we will release you into the community so you can practice nabbing these evil bandits. Make sure, you have your taser at the ready as well as your police issued 9mm Browning pistol loaded, just in case you are jumped by one of these criminals. This is an evil agenda we simply MUST abolish! There are zebra crosings that they must adhere to and if they are found outside that crossing, they are perfect for you to practice your training on. I hope you have that and now we will release you to apply your knowledge.

It could be that the IQ od new recruits is such that, they can only do that rather than real policing. Poor scared babies.

Yes ,James, it is frustrating. However police that I have interacted with have been very helpful generally. I have heard that police wellbeing is at an all time low.as they're understaffed. Recruiting new members is difficult too. However as you pointed out, there are massive issues other than jaywalking. We seem to be getting more and more violent crimes and it seems to be more prevalent with people with backgrounds in countries where violence is just normal life. Added this is a massive influx of people from other states fleeing Dan Andrews etc. Is has lead to a lot of homelessness, families in desperate situations. Yes jaywalking seems insignificant by comparison but no doubt some bureaucrat has said that this will help. I feel sorry for the police that are trying to do a good job but their hands are tied with political directives.

I agree entirely. The problem is not police officers on the beat but those directing them

Very worrying James. Especially as it is occurring in the precinct occupied by privileged minorities loitering in the shadow of Parliament House Adelaide. It’s dangerous to walk past at night especially if you look as if you might have a dollar in your pocket. But probably not as dangerous as meeting a default tax collector, eager to grab your dollar for jaywalking but less eager to protect the rights and safety of the (silent) majority. We urgently need to think outside the box to provide suggestions that politicians can latch onto. After all, they generally are incapable of doing it themselves.

London police found that more police walking the streets of town stopped most shoplifting and increased the arrest rate of them.

When judges are letting violent criminals our of jail with an ankle clamp who then get fired from their job and take a gun to work to kill workmates, then we can understand why police are not interested in putting real criminals in jail only to see them let out to kill more people.

The real reason they pick on jaywalkers and motorists is because they are basically non violent people who are easy to handle, fine and let go without any problems. They are cowards and do not want to deal with real criminals who carry knives and guns. Even shoplifters can get violent and may throw a rotten tomato at them.

I guess the real police left when they tried to force them to get an experimental gene therapy injection that had never been tested and previous mRNA trials had failed so badly that they were labelled as, "Not for use on humans". (2005 trail of 20,000 people has since killed them all except for 5 who are hospitalized with injuries today). They were the smart ones who were capable of catching criminals and collecting enough evidence to keep them in jail.

Somehow, this reminds me of the following verse:

"At that time Jesus went through the grain fields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them. 2 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, “Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath.” Matthew 12:1

Like the Pharisees, if these Police Officers just cared to look in the mirror, they might start to see the hypocrisy of their actions - That cutting corners at the taxpayers expense, because they are too lazy to take the longer, harder route in policing, causes a lot more harm than the average jaywalker!

Jaywalking - one of the biggest crime issues of our times. This will help them to recruit more people for sure.
