Generally, I very much dislike shopping. But one of the things that makes my weekly shop at Woolworths so much more of a pleasant experience, is catching up with the checkout assistants.
To have the opportunity at the checkout, to smile at one another, and to be able to ask how each other's day is going, or to have a little chuckle together while finding out something you have in common, or to be able to offer a kind word of encouragement or receive encouragement when you could do with some, is indeed a gift we must never take for granted.
It's funny, because when you experience this, you actually come out of Woolworths having been reminded that there is more to life than materialism! I really don't like all those horrible self-serve checkouts. They are so impersonal and you have to do the job of the checkout assistant, except without pay! I avoid them wherever possible, despite the fact that it is getting more and more difficult to do so, as my local Woolworths are putting less and less staff on. I remember when I was a child, Woolworths and Coles used to put two checkout assistants on at each checkout - one to scan the products and put them through, and the other, to pack the products in bags and place them in your trolley. This saved the customer so much more time in waiting. How times have changed!!
But of course, to disenable us from interacting with another human being at the checkout, is just another effort by the woke mafia to condition people to become devoid of a sense of community, devoid of social skills, devoid of a personality, devoid of a sense of humour and devoid of happiness. This is also the real reason those great big transparent plastic screens exist at checkouts - to discourage personal interaction between staff and customers.
Labour joins the Greens on the latest green energy bill with 1.5 Bn in federal assistance...wait a minute don’t we already have a too much debt? and capping gas prices will send gas companies to the wall when we need them most to cope with the coal power short fall... looks like we will be rationing and relying on wood next year. I will take a robot over a puppet PM any day every day time he opens his mouth we get a Green glitch! I must obey I must obey what the Greens say! Great interview with Rowan James we need more of your critique!
