It’s amazing to see so many nations light up landmarks in solidarity with Israel after 13 people were killed and dozens injured in four terror attacks over the past fortnight.
Oh wait. No-one has done that.
The Sydney Opera House has not been bathed in the blue and white of the Israeli flag.
Neither has the Eifel Tower.
Neither has the London Eye.
Neither has New York’s Empire State Building.
In fact, most people are likely unaware of the terror unleashed in Israel since March 22. It’s only the Jews, after all, and they get killed all the time, right?
A terror attack anywhere else would elicit worldwide sympathy and shows of “solidarity”.
Certainly Israel is quick to show solidarity with other nations when they come under attack.
Here are just some of the times Tel Aviv has lit up in solidarity with cities around the world who faced terror attacks. But who will light up in solidarity with Tel Aviv?
On March 22 three Israelis were stabbed to death and a fourth rammed and killed with a vehicle. The assailant had been released from prison after supporting ISIS. You can guess his first name.
On March 28 terrorists shot dead two Israeli policemen (both aged just 19) at a bus stop. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack.
On March 30 five people were shot dead by an attacker dressed in black firing an M16 assault rifle on residential streets. The Palestinian militant group Hamas, which governs the Gaza Strip, praised the attack, saying: "We express our blessing to the Tel Aviv operation."
On April 7 a Palestinian, opening fire at a bar in Tel Aviv, killed two Israelis and injured a dozen more. He was later found hiding in a place of worship. I’ll let you take a wild, crazy guess where.
To be fair, the American Secretary of State Antony Blinkin tweeted his condemnation of the violence.
But that just emphasises my point. When any other nation suffers a terror attack, they get the full solidarity treatment, right around the world. Israel gets a tweet, not from the US President, but from his underling.
Jewish leader in the 4th Century BC Ezra wrote “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem”. Now, as then, there is no peace, and neither do there seem many who outside of Jerusalem who care.
As someone who stands with and prays for Israel, thank you for highlighting these murders that go unnoticed in most of the media - apart from Times of Israel. Thanks for all your posts, keep it up, we need to be informed re the absurdity of this woke (Wilfully Overlooking Known Evil) society.
Well said. In NZ we have a PM who was feted internationally for donning a tea towel after a maniac killed mosque goers in Christchurch then we were all meant to chant "you are us". Pretty much contemporaneously 250 christians were blown up in a church in Sri Lanka. Nothing followed. Then we had a known nut case towel head who had been looked after in an Auckland mosque stab people in a supermarket. Still nothing much. Then our Govt gave the Taliban $3m of money they did not have as "they seem to be nice boys". Israel hasn't got a show with this nonsense going on.
