Hipkins is partly right, Xi and Putin are very popular in their countries, but that has more to do with control of the media than their good nature.
This is total spin and the NZ media are complicit for not calling it out, but neither want to anger China for no good reason as their economy depends on having a good relationship with them.
With left leaning politicians being selected by the WEF, etc. using voter fraud, to control all the countries around the world Xi and Putin should feel very admired and popular in the media at least.
Of course no one wants to live in a Communist dictatorship, but we are already in a Socialist totalitarian rule here with lockdowns and misinformation censors. All we need now is facial recognition cameras everywhere and governments controlling our CBDCs with a social credit score, but I am sure it is not far away from getting there (a full Communist dictatorship with Albo).
No sure that I would rate the boy Hipkins and his assessments. I do think he was handed a poisoned chalice to succeed the awful woman before him.
But in all this we should remember that China is a totalitarian regime and anyone who replaces him is going to be the same. The best thing for us to do is restrict trade, educational ties and immigration with China and find other markets etc. Banning foreign ownership of property here would help too but it is all too late. The world has changed and it is a multi polar world. We need a serious think about our alliances. Being tied to countries led by neocons who want us forever involved in war is very bad for us too.
Believe me, as a kiwi, this schoolboy on a man’s errand is not universally loved and endorsed. I mean how can anyone take a guy seriously who asserts that the Chinese people are free to determine their own form of governance? I guess it makes sense for someone who looks on the CCP as a role model for their own particular political ideologies.
