Dear James, you have echoed my sentiments perfectly. The audacity DICKtator Dan possesses beggars belief but it's rivalled, unfortunately in this case, by the Diamond's ignorance and hypocrisy. 'Modern ' Australia never ceases to disappoint.
Sadly, historian Geoffrey Blainey and others have documented the wars between Aboriginal tribes before settlers arrived, and particularly in Victoria, where these tribes committed genocides, that eliminated their fellow Aboriginal people at a rate significantly greater than any other conflicts until World War 1. Aboriginal people today recall this history in their truth telling as did Pastor Doug Nicholls with me, when I first arrived in Australia in 1970 and was befriended by him lunchtimes from my Little Collins St job, between 1970 -1974.
That statement really shows the hypocrisy of this whole affair. It's gone from criticizing a comment made many years ago by someone other than the generous supporter, (who by the way in her own way has shown sympathy and support for many indigenous programs, not denigrating them at all), to accepting taxpayer funded support from a government led by a person who has shown how much he really cares about anything and anyone. He makes personal gain from this affair right before an election and shows his generosity in spending other people's hard-earned wages. Just look at the money Victorians don't have in the State Budget! By the way. How many tax-paying Victorians wanted to spend money on a team they don't necessarily watch or a sport they are not interested in?
The damage done by this woke virtue signaling is far more than just the money.
People who know about Gina like her and are offended by their decision.
Like QANTAS, they are doomed to loose many supporters and participants.
