London Mayor Blames Stabbing of Gay Men on Culture Wars
... and goes quiet when CCTV footage is released
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has blamed the “culture wars” for the stabbing of two homosexuals outside a London gay club this week.
It’s an interesting turn of phrase, made even more interesting after a photo of the suspected attacker was released by police some days later.
Two men, in their 20s and 30s, were attacked near the Two Brewers club in South London last Sunday evening. Both victims were treated in hospital and discharged.
Mayor Khan branded the crime “horrific” - which it undoubtedly was - and then said it served as a “tragic reminder of why we need Pride”.
Well sure. Have dikes on bikes do extra laps of London for Mardi Gras. That’ll fix it.
Or just maybe (this is a crazy idea but hear me out) the horrific crime serves as a tragic reminder of why we need policing in London where knife offences rose to 12,786 in 2022/23, compared with 11,122 the previous year.
Nah, the Mayor is right. We need more rainbow crossings.
The Mayor took to Twitter, slamming those who “stoke up hate and vilify LGBTQ+ people,” saying …
“For those who stoke up hate and vilify LGBTQ+ people for your own agenda, you're part of the problem too. Your culture war has real-life consequences.”
He added:
“Let me be clear: I will never quieten down my allyship. I'll never stop fighting for the safety, rights and dignity of the LGBTQ+ community. I am committed to stamping out hate crime in our city.”
Ah yes, those right wing haters who complain about Drag Queen Story Time and who annoyingly object to gender benders plying children with puberty blockers.
Them’s what’s stirring up the hate. It’s them culture wars!
But then, a curious thing happened.
Police released an image - captured on CCTV - of the homophobic assailant stirred up by these “culture wars”.
Here’s his picture …
I’m inclined to agree with Mayor Khan that the culture wars are to blame, though maybe not the ‘right wing’ culture Mayor Khan seems so eager to pin the stabbings on.
The assailant (who at least is masking for our safety) looks very much like he might align with another sort of culture.
Now, of course, police knew what the attacker looked like when the stabbings took place but, curiously, didn’t give a descriptor.
It’s an interesting situation when police withhold information that could lead to the arrest of a man who is going around stabbing gays because that information goes against the preferred narrative.
The inconvenient truth is that many homophobes come from certain parts of the world and are adherents of a certain religion that cannot be named for fear of losing one’s head.
As Mayor Khan is so fond of saying, ‘Diversity is our strength’.
It’s evidently more important to protect immigrants from suspicion than it is to protect gays from being killed.
Identity politics really is a game played by the morally bankrupt.
Now I hasten to add that it’s possible police will find the suspect and discover he’s a white supremacist who watches Fox News. If you believe CNN, that’s an entirely likely scenario.
But the fact remains, police concealed the attacker’s description for a number of days after the attack.
The other fact is that Mayor Khan would have known details of the attacker from police. But with the attacker’s description concealed from the public, and with the increasing unlikelihood of the attacker being caught, Mayor Khan felt emboldened to use the stabbing of two gay men to fight the “culture wars”.
That’s right. It’s Mayor Khan who is fighting the culture war. After all, it is he who continually pushes the LBGTQ plus agenda into every sphere of society while demonising anyone who objects as a ‘bigot’.
It’s a classic tactic of progressives who wage war against the culture while accusing anyone who objects of waging culture wars.
The other thing about Mayor Khan is that he hasn’t much bothered to raise his head above the parapet for the other 12,784 people stabbed in the past 12 months. He seems to be only horrified by knife crime when two gays are knifed outside a gay bar, thus offering political mileage.
The initial failure of police to provide a description of the attacker only served to raise suspicions about why police would keep it secret. According to Clarion Security Systems research, there are 942,562 CCTV cameras in London's 607 square miles, equating to 1552 CCTV cameras per square mile. When it comes to the most surveilled cities in the world, London is the only city outside China to feature in the top 10.
So it was inconceivable that an attack out front of a London bar would not be captured on camera.
Most people understood that the lack of a description was itself a description.
But then, when an image was finally released days after the attack, it was of a white man.
Mayor Khan unloaded on Twitter about how homophobia was being stirred up by the culture wars and about the need for even more gay Pride events.
A couple of days after that, police released a new image of the perpetrator. ,This time the image showed a brown-skinned man!
Mayor Khan, so vocal about homophobia just days earlier, suddenly fell quiet. So too the news outlets.
The facts no longer fitted the narrative. It was time to move on.
Thanks James. I think this Mayors ship is sailing while he focuses on segregation rather than integration. It’s almost like he wants to cause more harm 🤔🤔
We should expect no less from a snivelling, virtue signalling weasel like Mr Kahn. He saw the opportunity to stand on his rainbow coloured soap box, rail against bigotry and remind everyone just how virtuous he is and score valuable DEI brownie points. About as disingenuous and self serving as one could get.
And yet, knife crime in London continues to soar with him as mayor - a point apparently overlooked by the fawning mainstream media.
Maybe the attack was simply just one more knife crime in a city where it’s about as commonplace as seeing another minaret piercing the skyline. Maybe, just maybe, homosexuals can be the victims of random crime. You know, like everyone else. Maybe it had absolutely nothing to do with their sexual proclivities and more to do with living in a city with a sky rocketing crime - and knife crime in particular - problem.
But I guess that would give Mr Kahn less opportunity to remind us about his ally-ship credentials or preach to us about how intolerant and hateful we all really are.
One thing you can’t accuse Mr Kahn of is, much like Bob Hudson’s Newcastle Song, ever letting a chance go by.
