Local Agenda 21 is a policy tool for implementing local sustainable development and at the same time it is also a learning process for both the community and local government. It was first described in Agenda 21.

“Chapter 28 of Agenda 21 identifies local authorities as the sphere of governance closest to the people, and calls upon all local authorities to consult with their communities and develop and implement a local plan for sustainability - a 'Local Agenda 21'. By 2001 more than 6,400 local governments in 113 countries worldwide were developing and implementing LA21”

I think this explains much of why local government ignores the 3 Rs

Roads rates and rubbish in favour of woke policies. But is it surprising that many local councillors are either Greens members or independent greens.

Remember the mantra Think global ly, act locally.

I was under the impression the lights ‘sculpture’ on the M1 was financed by the state government as envisioned by former premier, ‘pirate’ Pete, as part of the Commonwealth games ‘infrastructure’.

I can hardly believe the reality of the fake country con. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷‍♀️

How could this possibly have happened? In 30 states, not a single individual decided to check if it was real, and the UN as well. 😳😴

There’s no way to express the stupidity of those in charge. I’m sure Australia isn’t exempt but I hope we at least know how to google 🤔

I love that. I've never heard local council described so well in so few words. Very enjoyable writing.

Thank you James. It is so comforting to hear the words of someone with his head screwed on the right way! I just think to myself, 'Ah, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks that way.' Thank you for the part you play in preserving my sanity! All these loony bins are just so full of their own trash...

James, your insight is spot on, having worked in local government and witnessed the stupidity, duplicity and self serving of the elected "representatives" the ones I found the most despicable were those using their local council as a stepping stone to State or Federal government.

To sit amongst 50 bins filled with decaying rubbish would be pleasant in comparison with the repulsive, nauseating stench that comes with being associated with 'pride' flags. These senseless councillors would much rather create more trash than get rid of any. It's all part of ruining Western society and turning it into a great big dump. The movie 'Idiocracy' comes to mind...

So true. Councils are supposedly important-you never know. Road rate and rubbish. Nothin else. Council elections are th biggest waste of money. When they sacked Wollongong council fro corruption we got on so well with commission. They did the job. When I was growing up on the eastern shore of Hobart we had a commission and they were great. No elections needed.

Local Government - a layer of cake we don’t need. We could outsource most of what LGs do.

Thanks again James. Love the wokerati. Wokerati =asleep at the wheel?🤪. How about a revolutionary idea to represent councils ratepayers. Rates pay for core expectations that you mentioned. Anything out of that and ratepayers can choose a wokerati donation to support their chosen cause. This means that councils have all wokerati workers and projects funded exclusively from donations. Donations would not be tax exempt unless all council charges are tax exempt. No more wasted money on virtue signals. Wokerati buried in bureaucratic bs and unfunded, what's not to like.
