Sadly, Sir, she is serious. And so are vast swathes of 333 million Americans. What is equally serious, is to watch Trump snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. His performance of late amply illustrates the Bozo he really is. That Harris and Trump are the best that the aforementioned 333 million can throw up simply begs me to follow suit. Leaders of the Free World. And I'm a Monkey's Uncle.

Americans must chose between a rock and a hard place.

Every time Kamala speaks and laughs, I think we need a Dan Murphy's ad on TV.

Great to have at least a few common-sense rational US commentators like Brad Polumbo to expose this nonsense. As you guys (can I say this??) are doing here as well at Sky. Thanks!

I suspect that the same faceless men and women and some we see that have been running the US since Biden became president are running the US.

If Americans are stupid enough to vote for an empty shell, a brainless bimbo on a platform of murdering babies, mutilating children and setting up a communist state based on mass immigration then they deserve her.

We should be working very hard to separate ourselves from the US and the UK and build our own defence systems.

I have been advocating our own defence deterrent for a long time. However, that was before we all became aware of the incompetence, the backwardness and the sheer inertia of our own defence department, our military leaders, our politicians, the idiotic and inhibiting nature of our federal political system and, dare I say it, the myopic, lotus eating values and attitudes of our 'fellow Australians'. The Tasmanian ferry debacle yet another shining rivet to point.

"Myopic , lotus eating values and attitudes" sums it up beautifully,This malaise shows itself in TV advertising , sport commentating ,all free to air television stations in their programming . They pander to a very low strata of our population which I fear is the most of us in todays "brave new world "

Have to agree with you Bob. Celebrity status these days is bestowed by a feckless media who have not played the game (by the rules) so make up their own rules as they merrily go along thinking that because they seem to have unrestricted access to the public, their opinions are the only new socially acceptable rules! The same applies to the ‘war criminal’ status which again are rules created by social media experts who have never been in a war! Maybe 5 years of martial law could fix a few societal issues? A very interesting thought Bob.

Just an example ,we applaud overpaid " football stars " and when they are caught snorting cocaine (on camera )the only fear is not what this will do to pre brain dead kids, but if he will be allowed to play next week ,when we have some shit-wit journalist wanting a cheap shot, names Australia highest decorated soldier from recent conflicts Cpl Ben Roberts -Smith VC MG as a war criminal and everyone from the prime minister down agreed publicly when the man was not convicted or even charged with any crime at all . Nothing short of a F---ING disgrace and this bloke could have ,potentially at some future time be nominated for the post of Govenor General .(fat chance of that now when political hacks stand above the Victoria Cross)

I'm afraid it does. You are quite right Bob in that the public media entertainment industry is simply shocking. It does very little to elevate or nourish minds, let alone edify souls!

We have had a succession of hopeless defence ministers ( both parties ) and now have a government that is incapable of funding requirements for modern warfare

When Peter Dutton sees tis rabble off and we get Andrew Hastie in as Defence /Foreign Minister in we might see some light at the end of the tunnel Just immagine an ex SAS captain as defence minister . Every one on the left from the chinks down would be squealing like stuck pigs.

the sad reality is that the cupboard is bare. Successive governments have subcontracted out defence out to the US and now we have a feckless US president and a potential US president who can't string two coherent sentences together, we are potentially really up the creek

Its a safe bet the Kamala like many Americans doesn;t know the difference between Austria and Australia

My son was in the US a few years ago on a Rotary Scholarship and at the end of the tour addressed the Oklahoma conference (about 4000 people) and at the end the Chairman thanked him and congratulated him on his command of the English language and also dug himself in further by asking what was his first language . My son said that about half the audience said Oh yeah pretty good and the other half buried their heads and Ohhh SHIT .Bit of a worry.

Bob I’ve twice been asked where I learned to speak English so well and once had to explain to a college graduate how it can be summer in the US and winter in Australia

Apologies for late response I’ve been in hospital since 25/9 . Still here

Indeed. We have had a succession of hopeless ministers from the uniparty who along with the ADF don’t seem to understand that we cannot rely on AUKUS, the quad or the US.

Time is running out to have an adequate army recruited and trained. And how the hell ,in absence of sufficient numbers of recruits could we conscript enough troops from the polyglot shower of shit we have produced through our policy of grabbing anyone from anywhere who wants to come here providing they are not white.

It's not about whether KH is serious. She certainly is serious about her political and personal aspirations, and thanks to an obedient press corps, she is well on the way to achieving them. The problem is that the woke press is serious about pushing her even though she cannot articulate any independant policies. They removed the unpopular face of Biden and replaced it with a face that they think will be more popular, but it's the same machine that is running them both, and the press is bowing to the will of the Democratic machine that is running the US government down this path. The Democratic machine's current goal - to distance Harris from Biden and his unpopular policies, whilst maintaining exactly the same policies with a different spin. and the Woke Press are buying it... now, years after it became common knowledge you will see the woke press pushing negative news about Biden and his family, and positive news about Harris - watch this space.

We don’t hate MSM enough. Harris is a creation of the media as are her policies.

An old journo mate of mine ,one Collinridge Rivette told me years ago that the MSN was in decline because of being taken over by "untrained reporters "instead of " trained journalists . One of his comments was that the Soviet era news papers (he was Reuters corresondent in Moscow for three years during Soviet era )were less constrained by the government than ours are (IN 1990s)

Expand full comment

Do they think they constrain journalists or do the journos let themselves be constrained and suck up to government?

A bit of both . Some tv news readers almost seem to be wetting themselves with glee when "reporting "on anything negative about the co-alition.

I read that US debt is increasing at $1 trillion every 100 day. There are open borders, a large part of the population seems to have little or no concept of self identity, and there are those would like to see the end of the USA as we know it as well as the end of Israel. We are seeing gays and members of the alphabet brigade as well as privileged ,young people ,college students and academics supporting Hamas and their orthodox Islamic ideology. Declining membership and attendance in churches and synagogues and a presidential candidate who is coming out with nonsensical economic "policies " and has screwed up everything she has been given responsibility for.

What else could possibly go wrong ?
