What surprises me is that our digital Karen isn't taking down your posts and demanding that you be locked up, since we all know she cannot bear to have anything in the public eye that does not fit into her agenda.
Let us pray that the next election results in politicians who are better at pretending that they respect the truth.
Penny Wong seemed to be more upset and louder in her grief over the 72 year old British ? man who had a heart attack and died when the Singapore plane went into free fall, than over the 1200 murdered in Israel or the kidnapped. On nearly every issue she opens her mouth on she is on the wrong side of justice, fairness, honesty and long term good of Australian citizens.
Yes I've been praying faithfully, like many others, for the welfare and release of the hostages, especially for the Bibas family whose 2 small children are still captive. Though maybe small in number, my hope is that good people and christians throughout Australia are praying for the hostages. A few church Aussie church groups have posted their support on Amir Tsafarti's site.
Thank you James for feeding us with true facts, that sadly, our country's "leaders" lack as well as backbone and plain speaking - not with a forked tongue. It's been said that a nation deserves the government it elected - may God forgive us. I pray daily for the removal of this government and that God would raise up godly, righteous men and women and endow them with wisdom.
I read your article with such regret because it is so true.
I used to believe that Australians were mostly decent and tolerant - particularly of the Jewish Community who have contributed so much to this Country given their tiny number.
The sheer hatred is born out by one example I was looking at yesterday. The situation at Monash University. Sir John Monash, after whom Monash University in Melbourne is named, was a knighted Jew who fought on the front lines at Gallipoli, a decorated Australian General, with honours in Engineering and Laws - and a Founder of Australian Jewish Zionism. At Monash last week, Jewish students were intimidated, called names and abused by woke left moron protestors. Their encampment was a mixture of privilege, evil and ignorance - they covered their faces for fear of recrimination. This was condoned by authorities until untenable. Leaders are weak, non existent or worse, complicit. For the first time since WW2, many are currently contemplating leaving Australia. How sad. The government will replace the Jews with Islamic Fundamentalists and then the entire country will go down the toilet.
Unfortunately the whole world is going down the same gurgle. I’m in Finland right now and the apprehension of what Russia might do next is palpable. Russia has already made vocal claims to the northern coastline of Finland, and the fears are that they WANT access to the northern sea by claiming northern parts of Finland,Norway and Sweden. This his automatically includes the whole of Lapland.
And scare us it does. These young people are the leaders of this country tomorrow! It is bad enough now but what about then? A taxi driver openly stating to a passenger that he would join Hamas if he could! What have we become? How have we allowed it? I definitely have one granddaughter who is waving the Palestian flag and no matter what I say, I am wrong and she is right! You can't argue logic with the illogicals, you cant make the blind see unless you are Jesus and then maybe they can have mud on their eyes and hopefully they will see when they come clean! A million MUslims in a country that was once a Christian country! This is sad and for these people to have no empathy with women in Israel who have been brutally gang raped is very sad.
Morality was given to people so they knew how to, 'do unto others as you would have them do unto you!' But somewhere along the way it has been changed to, 'do it to them first, so they cannot do it to us!'
Jesus showed how little children should be trained. Evil-led people are teaching their children to hate and kill, especially the Jews.
We have seen the way the Universities have allowed the campus to become the place to show solidarity and threaten the weaklings and Jews. These are the future leaders of society!!! These will be parents themselves one day!!! Heaven help the world and the people of the future!
At least when we are removed from this place, none of them will be with us, and our future will certainly be better. Thank God.
We must pray urgently for Israel. For the hostages and for Peace in Jerusalem.
The lack of interest in the hostages is a function of the media. Whatever is a story today becomes forgotten tomorrow. Do we still pray for the Chibok girls? All have returned except Leah who will not renounce Christ. The others are distrusted in their communities.
Politicians rely of the ephemeral nature of media stories.
"If our politicians are blinded by lust for power, and if our protesting uni students are blinded by perverted ideology, then what explains the reaction of my taxi driver, and the Imams not far from where I live, and the mob on the steps of the Sydney Opera House last October?"
James, the answer you gave to this (very good) question is "Bloody hatred" and that is exactly right. It is also pride. The simple answer to this question is sin. Some people think that the human heart is innately good. That idea could not be further from the truth. Unfortunately, as the bible has pointed out, the human heart is rotten to the core.
“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?" Jeremiah 17:9
"God realized that the human heart would have an inclination toward evil, even though human lips would outwardly proclaim its goodness." Deuteronomy 5:29-30
Our evil politicians (and I mean evil!), have chosen to lust after power. Some of our university students have chosen to lust after a perverted ideology because they have chosen to hate the truth. These people are all completely lost in the darkness of their wretched sin and are fast falling into an eternity without God.
As I stood next to our 19 year old to light the shabbat candles this last Friday, I could not hold back the tears as I beseeched God to help those hostages we'd seen in the new footage. To have my daughter next to me safe and sound, the profound gratitude yet utter frustration and hurt and suffering I felt for the parents of those young women, just like my daughter, the same age. It was viserical and it wounded my soul. No doubt every Jewish parent feels the pain of what our breathen are living through, a hellish nightmare in a world devoid of sympathy or justice. Yet the utter faith in larger picture of what we can't know grounds me, somehow this will pass. The support of the silent majority and the religious and moral people with common sense, is enormously strengthening. We will not cower in fear or disbelief.
The Creator God, has led the People of Israel through many trials and tribulations. Each step of the way He has required only that they trust in Him and follow His directions. Many times they have failed Him, but He still showed His love for His people in returning them to His Promised Land (Israel). More trials and tribulations! But God still shows mercy and love to all who call on His name. Sure it is much more harder to be the recipients of the mass slaughter and the anti-semitism first hand. But Karen, the silent majority is getting noisier and it is not from trying to be heard. Rather it is the evil that surrounds us which prevents or rather deliberately denies us platforms over which we can be heard. Take comfort from this Substack Community which overwhelmingly supports the people of Israel, here in Australia and elsewhere around the world.
I'm a Christian who loves Israel (although I've never visited there) and believe I will be blessed by God ( and am still being blessed) because I bless Israel.
The evil doers will receive His punishment and I would not want to be under the wrath of God Almighty!
The young Jewish woman in the above photograph is 19 year-old Noa Levin. I often wonder what her fate became in Gaza, also her namesake Noa Armagani, the one we saw on the TV news taken away on a motorbike. May the God of Israel have mercy on them.
Yes Jillian, one of my favorite passages from Isaiah. I too reflect on it regularly and pray for the release of the hostages. Praying too for Bibi and the Israeli leadership - protection, wisdom, stamina. Even in my sphere of influence, it never ceases to amaze the total ignorance of people (even Christians) who have no concept of the TRUTH and the place of Israel in end times. The silent churches will one day have to give an account (as we all will) but in this day of technology and so much sound teaching from faithful expositors of God's Word, ignorance is not an excuse.. Isaiah 62 ..."For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem's sake I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch ........"
To a certain degree I can understand, but not endorse, where your taxi driver and other Muslims have the hatred of Jews, and that is taught to them through the teachings of the Koran. To them, it is written there so they have no alternative but to adopt it.
I see no excuse, other than what you have said, for non Muslims to have the same hatred.
So are you saying that if someone is a non-Muslim, their hatred of Jews is inexcusable, but if someone is a Muslim, their hatred of Jews is understandable, or even excusable, simply because they have chosen to be brainwashed by the Koran???
Brilliant

I am prepared to bet that not one of the recent flood of immigrants would be a white English speaking Christian.
Another good article James.

Sydney! I lived there for a short time in the early 1960s. Today, when I think of my time there, I shudder.
I was born there after WW2 and life was far more genteel than today.

Best holiday I ever had was in Israel. Would go back there in a heart beat!!!
You should book a trip to Israel - you will love it - best holiday ever
Great place, even back in 1979.
It's on my bucket list Caroline.
I pray Isaiah 61 every day for the hostages and their families. 🇮🇱⭐️❤️

Burnie, Jillian clarified your meaning for me, saying it is understandable but not excusable. I see that that makes sense now.
So are you saying that if someone is a non-Muslim, their hatred of Jews is inexcusable, but if someone is a Muslim, their hatred of Jews is understandable, or even excusable, simply because they have chosen to be brainwashed by the Koran???
I don’t think that was the point. Muslim are viscerally Jew haters. Understandable but not excusable.
I see what you're saying - that's true.
Muslims & non-Muslims: dupes, dupes, dupes!
Great work JM
Nailed it.
Completely, unequivocally, repugnantly true 😢
