The journey to the cross is a brutal one, a trek none of us could endure. The burden of the cross, carried along the journey, made the trek unbearable even for Christ, why should we expect to be able to carry our burden alone? The searing pain of steel breaking through the most sensitive and functional part of the human totally incapacitated him, unable to do anything other than utter several profound sentences. Naked before a critical, sceptical, disbelieving and hate filled audience, didn't leave him embarrassed but totally empathetic for his accusers. Behold the man, the most pathetic sight of apparent failure. My Lord, my saviour, my King... Creator of the universe, lover of my soul. Hoshana hoshana. Forgive us Father for our role in the death of Joshua the Messiah.
Praise God. It is finished. Victory is getting up every day when you feel like hiding under the covers. It is persevering in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Amen! I just sent this to my long suffering daughter hoping that it inspires her to find God again and come out from under the covers (literally) and get back into living life again! I believe he will heal her - she just need to take his hand and turn her back on the pain and bad influences in her life.
James you have described Good Friday so brilliantly there is nothing more i could say God bless to you and all your family, from Heather and Alan Taylor we used to go to Paradise church Adelaide whenever you were there your messages were always uplifting .
Hallelujah - what a Saviour! Thank you Jesus for dying for me, for taking my sin(s), for presenting me before a Holy God redeemed and clothed in Your righteousness. It’s Friday … but Sunday is coming!
1000 blessings upon you James - May you share a rich and blessed Easter with your boys.
Thank you James for bringing the best good news ever to us once again. I never cease to be amazed that Almighty God sent His Son into the world to be a sacrifice for mankind’s sin. Thank you Jesus. I am so glad that Jesus rose again conquering both sin and death and freely offering me His salvation. Praise His holy name. 🙏
Beautifully explained James
I think we’re all going to have to remind ourselves in coming years of this great sacrifice made for humanity …His light never goes out
