NSW Police are investigating a Bible reference written on a rainbow crossing in Wollongong.
LGBTQ activists are outraged at what they describe as a “hate crime” and “homophobic vandalism”.
Someone had the temerity to write “Genesis 9:13” on the city’s Pride crosswalk.
The Wollongong University Student Union is so upset that they have scheduled a rally to protest the “homophobic attack”.
I’m not sure how you “attack” a pedestrian crossing. Then again, I deferred university after six months and never went back, so what do I know?
A National Union of Students spokesperson told local media:
“We’re all angry that this could ever happen. It’s upsetting, it’s infuriating that someone thinks they could do this.”
For those who missed Sunday school, Genesis chapter 9 tells the story of Noah and the Ark. Verse 13 is where God makes a promise to Noah that He will never again flood the earth.
God tells Noah …
“I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.”
Now that doesn’t really sound like a homophobic attack.
It sounds more like a reminder that - up until five minutes ago - the rainbow was a Christian symbol rather than a gay one.
The upset student union official said:
“As a queer person, I’m upset and hurt.”
On a side note, isn’t it funny how the Left bang on about the evils of appropriation except for when it comes to womanhood and Christian symbols, both of which they are quite happy to appropriate, and then distort. But I digress.
A Wollongong City Council spokesperson told LGBTQ newspaper The Star Observer that …
“This site has attracted instances like this since its installation and we firmly believe that any damage does not reflect the wider views of our community.”
It’s interesting to me that a gay pride rainbow is a traffic installation, but a Christian rainbow is vandalism.
Maybe local councils should just get back to painting zebra crossings rather than using public roads to virtue signal with political messages.
This would help greatly since now motorists will be completely confused by the rainbow crossing in Wollongong.
Is it still an LGBTQ rainbow crossing?
Or is it now a Christian rainbow crossing?
If drivers inadvertently leave a tyre mark when driving across, are they still being homophobic? Or are they now being Christophobic?
Gods created rainbows have 7 colours. The alphabet one has 6. As for it being continuously vandalised maybe the wider community aren’t in favour?
Wonderful to see the true meaning painted on the rainbow, but how far this country has fallen when a verse from God’s word: a covenant with mankind is now considered a ‘hate crime’ - and what does another verse says ‘Pride comes before a fall’.
There are now 24 LGBTIQAA+++ flags to cover every predilection.
