Yes James "Is it just me, or is it maddeningly ironic" it is just you 🤪 and possibly us as well. The "green" energy arguments have many issues. Yes, we need to work towards clean power solutions. However, we have put in place a ticking bomb of toxic waste from batteries, solar panels, concrete (wind tower bases), composites etc etc. These are difficult and expensive to process safely and will no doubt be dumped on some poor county for them to enjoy our toxic green life styles. Why we do not pursue 24/7 tidal/ wave power located near our major cities defies logic but I guess that is progress. Technologies can be great but we need to have viable, clean, economic end of component/material life solutions that do not fuel green delusions.

Well pointed out James. That Putin has exposed the West's follies by his war is something Trump foresaw some years ago but was laughed at. Especially by the Germans who cannot now run their factories or even swimming pools. They will be after your coal next. They will not get any from here which is a shame so we have to give them army surplus jackets instead to keep them warm. We buy filthy very expensive Indonesian coal thank you very much as we have plenty of money from large trade deficits to do that and to use our own very good high quality coal would be very bad for the world indeed.
