Just 9 days ago I wrote about Penny Wong’s wrong-headed decision to give $21.5m funding to humanitarian efforts in Palestine.
At the time, Wong assured journalists the money would not end up in the hands of Hamas because - get this - she had sought and received assurances that it would not.
Clearly she believed the Gazans were more trustworthy than her Labor Party leader.
I imagined the conversation going something like this …
Wong: ‘Here’s $21.5m. Now, er, you’re not going to use it to shoot rockets at Jews are you?’
Palestinian Leaders: ‘Us? Noooo.’
Wong: ‘Oh good. Wait. Pinky swear?’
Palestinian Leaders: ‘Cross our hearts, hope to die (as martyrs)’
Wong: ‘You really are wonderful human beings.’
Palestinian Leaders: ‘Who is this homosexual infidel?’
Well, slap my face with a keffiyeh and call me Muhammed, the funding has now been suspended amid allegations that those receiving it had been involved in the October 7 attacks.
The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said Friday that “several” employees had been involved in the terror attack on Israel.
The agency’s commissioner-general, Philippe Lazzarini, said the workers’ contracts had been torn up and investigations were ongoing.
Penny Wong released a statement yesterday saying the allegations were “deeply concerning”.
She added …
“We will temporarily pause disbursement of recently announced funding.”
It should never have been given in the first place.
Like I said back on January 19, there is no situation the Albanese Government cannot make worse.
Clearly Ms Wong’s pandering to the lefty / pro-Hamas mob here, has gone awry. Any common sense, rational thinking person knew this was another dreadful misstep by our cultural Marxist government.
How the tally continues to grow, with so much disastrous ‘fodder’ for Peter Dutton to use to his advantage.
“Deeply concerning “ she said.
Really?
Maybe it’s “deeply concerning” because the money has already been sent, cashed in and spent?
Nothing surprises me with this mob anymore. Everything they have done has had a ‘Pause. Wait for it. There it is’ result.
The election can’t come soon enough.
