Will It Take Someone Being Killed?
Our current response to antisemitism is akin to flicking a tea towel at a charging rhino.
Does someone have to die in order for the Australian Government to take antisemitism seriously?
Jews have been demonised in weekly street marches for 15 months.
The head of ASIO reportedly said the marches were a pressure release valve. Fantastic.
Jews have been doxed. But, you know, the arts community have always been a bit alternative.
Jewish students have been harassed at their places of learning.
It was just one of those things, according to Sydney University Vice Chancellor Mark Scott. Play on.
Jewish businesses have been targeted.
But was it antisemitism or just a weird coincidence? It’s difficult to tell.
A Jewish synagogue was fire bombed.
Okay, that was serious. So serious the PM managed to get there after playing tennis. A taskforce set up to find the culprits has found no culprits. For all we know, the synagogue self combusted.
The Prime Minister’s special envoy on antisemitism asked that Albanese green lite tougher sentences for people targeting Jews. He said no.
When asked if legislation should be strengthened, Mr Albanese said that laws “need to be enforced”.
And how’s that going PM?
Almost no arrests suggests tacit approval, if you ask me.
The Prime Minister’s special envoy on antisemitism also asked that Albanese convene a national cabinet to formulate a united response to antisemitism. He said no.
This morning cars were graffitied with anti Jewish slogans before being set on fire, and the former house of Jewish leader Alex Ryvchin was doused in red paint.
Grim Jim Chalmers was interviewed this morning. He said the attack was unacceptable.
Sure. But if it’s unacceptable, why does the Federal Labor Party continually accept it?
"Unacceptable" has long been Albanese's adjective of choice for the innumerable offences he knows the public don't like but which he lacks the will, wit, strength and ability to challenge, let alone halt.
This latest antisemitic attack came AFTER a peace deal had been negotiated between Israel and Hamas. Which just goes to show that these attacks, as I have always said, have absolutely nothing to do with events in the Middle East and everything to do with blind hatred of Jewish people.
This is an ancient hatred so deep and so dark that we, here in sunny peace-loving Australia, fail to appreciate its demonic origins.
We are unfamiliar with a hatred so long-held, steeped in history and so resistant to opposition and logic.
Our current response to antisemitism is akin to flicking a tea towel at a charging rhino. Until we get serious, the government’s lame ass words are only making matters worse.
We need to get serious about stopping this. We need to get extremely serious.
Will it take someone getting killed?
Is that the point at which Albanese and Wong and Minns and Allan say ‘enough’ and mean it enough to actually do something?
I think we all know the answer.
And I’m ashamed of my country for that.
Things will change when a Moslem is killed. If a Jew is killed who cares? I am so disgusted with these people who carry hatred in their hearts for reasons not known to them. Our government leaders need to be made to sit and watch what happened to the Jews in World War Two and see just exactly how they are the same as the Nazis . We know this is a spiritual battle and these people have sold themselves to the devil.
Thank you once again James for your incredibly accurate reporting of current events.
I just read this latest article out loud to a few friends sitting with me.
We giggled at your analogy with the rhino because it’s so clever (I’m borrowing that one) but it’s also so sadly accurate.
How can a government whose role it is to protect us all fail so miserably?
Can’t we sue the bastards?
(This is a serious question by the way?)
I’m Australian, I’m Jewish but I’ve never felt or really experienced anti semitism until October 7.
Can’t begin to tell you how awful we feel.
What is so damn obvious to you and I should it not be so obvious to everyone else ?
Because we’re rational thinkers. We respect our fellow man no matter what religion they are brought up with. We believe in moral cohesion and this country has gone to the toilet.
When barbaric animals brutalise and invade a country as they did and want to kill every single Jew and obliterate Israel and promise to repeat another October 7 how is this ok?
The hurt is deep
But I just wanted to say thank you again for always reporting the truth and what is morally right
Our government is waving a testier at a charging rhino
I wish it was a joke
