How Many Words Does it Take to Say 'Stop Mutilating Our Kids'?
God help our children if this is the state of conservative politics in Australia
The Queensland Government’s inquiry into the way we treat children suffering from gender dysphoria is doomed.
At least it’s doomed if the initial comments from Health Minister Tim Nicholls are anything to go by.
Nicholls called an inquiry after it was revealed a Cairns Gender Clinic was prescribing puberty blockers to children as young as 12 without parental consent.
In announcing the inquiry he tweeted …
Paediatric gender care is a rapidly evolving area of health involving complex medical, psychological, family and social considerations. In light of emerging international evidence and policy decisions, it is critical that Queensland undertakes its own review.
God help us. That’s a LOT of words to say he wants to stop child mutilation.
First, what the hell is “gender care”?
Gender is a fixed biological reality. You don’t “care” for a person’s gender as if it can be changed, or treated, or triaged.
What are we caring for exactly? Kids with a mismatched soul? Kids in the wrong body? Or kids who have simply rejected stereotypes?
If you cannot even define the problem accurately, what hope defining the cure?
Or, to put it another way, unless you begin with the premise that gender is a fixed biological reality, you are doomed to fail these vulnerable children.
It beggars belief that a so-called conservative Queensland Government cannot even locate the starting point for a discussion on this topic.
Where are Christian LNP members Fiona Simpson? Where is Amanda Stoker? Where is Tim Mander?
How do you sit silently while your Health Minister sprouts this kind of nonsense?
Second … “gender care” is not “a rapidly evolving area of health”.
It’s a sham. It’s a travesty. It’s the deliberate mutilation and sterilisation of minors in order to placate a small lobby group of psychologically damaged activists who want to remake the world around their delusions.
By “gender care” I think the Health Minister is referring to the mutilation and castration of Australian kids.
Call it what it is Mr Nicholls, or resign as health minister.
What is being allowed to occur is not health care, it's pseudoscientific child abuse.
We need a Royal Commission and lengthy jail terms for the perpetrators of this abuse.
Third … “psychological, family and social considerations” do not change the fact that gender is a fixed biological reality.
Psychological considerations do not mean we starve an anorexic.
Family considerations do not mean we amputate the limb of a person who imagines the limb does not belong there.
Fourth, why is it important that Queensland has it’s own review into the treatment of children with gender dysphoria when the results of international studies - particularly in the UK - are so damning?
Are Australian kids so special that they might somehow be immune from the detrimental effects of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgery to remove breasts, uterus and testicles that have been documented in credible overseas reports like Cass?
It has been glaringly obvious for some time that Queensland health is sterilising healthy young bodies for no good reason. But sure, Mr Nicholls, have your own length inquiry at taxpayer expense to tell us what we already know and what reputable international researchers have already concluded.
Fifth … what “emerging international evidence” on the treatment of kids with gender dysphoria is the Health Minister talking about?
No actual medical professional of worth has ever believed that a child can be born into the wrong body. Come to think of it, no-one with a single firing neuron has ever believed it.
The prescription of puberty blockers for children is not a rapidly evolving area of medicine.
It is a scandal.
A great evil.
A shameful practice that has been allowed to continue by a wicked political class who cared more about protecting themselves from hurty names in the media than about protecting our children.
Sixth, the sterilisation of children is not “complex medical” care, it is abuse!
If the Health Minister wants to talk about complex health considerations, he might trying speaking to detransitioners. The harm is permanent.
It’s less than six months since the Queensland LNP Government was voted into office and already I am tiring of their progressive-lite attitude.
The causalities from the culture wars are piling up. Too many of those casualties are children. The time for obfuscation, clever word plays, and careful nuanced statements is over.
I don’t care that you’re from the Liberal Party. Speak the truth and unapologetically stand for common sense. Or get out of the way.
Right on the button James. All too many of our politicians are gutless to say and do what needs to be said and done. They revel in using long winded sentences and words which give them an each way bet to cover themselves if something goes wrong down the track.
'Gender affirming healthcare' should be more accurately renamed for what it actually is; gender denying malpractice.
