We were told 860 Palestinians would be given temporary visas in Australia.

Then we were told the number was actually closer to 2000.

We were told the security checks would be thorough.

Then we were told some of the security checks had been signed off in less than 60 minutes.

Now we are being told many of these Palestinians are to be given a pathway to permanent residency.

But wait. There’s more.

On Sunday we were told - by our spy chiefs no less - that support for terrorist organisations is not necessarily a barrier to permanent residency for these Palestinians ……
