US Marines: Armed and Fabulous

THE culture wars are not the ones the US Marines were formed to fight. And yet, here we are.

The world is now so Woke that even the Marines feel the need to celebrate LGBTQ Pride Month.

But seriously, gay bullets? How will soldiers shoot straight?

And are they even bullets? Or are they lipsticks? The US Marines are armed and fabulous.

Change that classic recruiting line, “The Few, the Proud, the Marines”, to “The Gay, the Trans, the Woke.”

Let’s hope this is nothing more than a simple case of the Marine’s Twitter feed having been hacked by the Navy.

These jokes just write themselves.

Though you’d be mistaken if you think the joke is on the gay community. No, the joke is on the Marines.

You can hardly be an elite fighting force when your own nation is laughing at you. And one can only imagine what America’s many enemies must be thinking.

One thing is for sure, Putin, Xi Jinping, Kim Jong-un and a jihad of blood-thirsty mullahs are all taking note.

If the West needs just one part of government to be grounded in reality, surely the military is it.

The sole purpose of the US Marines is to kill America’s enemies. If LGBTQ people want to help with that, great. But defending America against her enemies must be the focus. Anything else, particularly identity politics, is a dangerous distraction.

The reason for the Marines famously tough boot camp is to break down individuals so the group can work cohesively as a single unit.

Celebrating individual sexuality - of all things - seems antithetical to that.

Surely once the military decides to indulge in activism rather than in defending the country against its enemies, the military itself becomes a threat to national security.

Then again, in the Marines defence, if I have to charge a hill to take out a machine gun nest, I want backup that thinks I have a damn fine ass and would hate to lose it.
