Trump Unleashes on Rudd Who Has No-One to Unleashes on But His Cat
"Diplomacy" and Kevin Rudd are hardly synonymous. And that's the problem.
Donald Trump has described Kevin Rudd as a “nasty” man who is “not the brightest bulb”.
Trump told GB News that Australia’s ambassador to the United States probably wouldn’t last long in Washington if he won the November presidential election.
The funniest thing about this is that Kevin Rudd, famous for his explosive temper, has to sit silently in the embassy, shaking with rage, but unable to respond due to diplomacy.
He’s probably cussing at a staffer.
Dead cats and broken vases are no doubt spread across the office.
He will surely write a lengthy essay about it in years to come.
But that’s always been the hilarious part of Anthony Albanese’s decision to make Trump our ambassador to the US - Kevin Rudd and diplomacy are oxymorons.
Trump is neither being original or rude in describing Kevin 07 as “nasty”. Rudd’s own Labor colleagues said a lot worse about him.
His former Health Minister Nicola Roxon called him “a bastard” who deserved to be booted from office.
Former NSW Premier and Federal Senator Kristina Keneally labelled Rudd a “psychopath”.
Current Treasurer Jim Chalmers once told journalists that Rudd’s leadership style was entirely “dysfunctional” and that he was “demeaning” in his behaviour toward others.
I could go on …
Did anyone really expect Trump to like Rudd?
Back in 2020 Kevin Rudd tweeted of Donald Trump …
“The most destructive president in history. He drags America and democracy through the mud. He thrives on fomenting, not healing, division. He abuses Christianity, church and bible to justify violence. All aided and abetted by Murdoch’s FoxNews network in America which feeds this.”
You have to love Kevin Rudd pretending to care about Christianity. But I digress.
Rudd’s disdain for Trump was well known long before Anthony Albanese appointed him as our ambassador to America.
So the real villain in this story is neither Trump, nor Rudd, but Albanese.
Handsome Boy sent Kevin to our US Embassy, not to advance the national interest, but as a way of removing him from Australia’s domestic political debate.
(I bet he wishes he could send Paul Keating there as well)
As an ambassador Rudd would be prevented from freelancing on Australian politics and could therefore be kept under control.
The appointment of Rudd was a cynical exercise and entirely self-serving.
Did it ever occur to Albanese that we would be left without a credible representative in the quite likely event that Trump beat the dead house plant currently occupying the Oval Office?
If Trump wins in November Rudd’s position as our representative in Washington is entirely untenable.
Albanese should recall him immediately and replace him with someone who will serve the national interest.
Tony Abbott springs immediately to mind.
Thanks James for pointing out why Albo sent Rudd to the US - to silence him as a diplomat ! Clever ! I love Trump’s honesty . For calling Rudd the lemon that he is. I recall the day Rudd was elected as a very very sad day indeed!
James hilarious 😹 couldn’t stop laughing at all your fab imagery. It made me think of The Fight Club.
Tony Abbott would be a perfect ambassador for OZ in Washington - a man of integrity and intelligence.
