Is that a Greens candidate, or is it a parcel that’s ticking?
That’s the question that needs to be asked of the ACT Greens after their candidate, James Cruz, was found for the second time in a week to have posted incendiary remarks on social media.
But the party of love and tolerance has excused their candidate, explaining away his foul posts as “impassioned”.
I suppose the Hamas terrorists were passionate. So was Ivan Milat.
No, I’m not comparing James Cruz to terrorists or to serial killers. I’m simply making the point that being “impassioned” is hardly an excuse for abominable behaviour.
The Greens had to clarify that their candidate did not approve of violence despite the fact that he had said on social media he wanted to …
“f..king kill politicians” or “send them to The Hague and hang them in the street”
Not espousing violence at all. Not even close. Just a little impassioned over the way asylum seeker policy was being formulated.
He also wrote …
“F..k Israel” and “their genocidal regime”
Not anti-semitic. Just lacking a little nuance. That’s all.
And this …
“I don’t give a s..t how many of their occupying forces die when they couldn’t care less about indiscriminately slaughtering civilians, and actively cheer as they die.”
Not gloating in the death of Jews. Not even a bit. No, no!
While the statements may be “confronting to some” they were just a manifestation of “deep pain”, a Greens spokesman said.
Confronting to some means they weren’t at all concerning to the ACT Greens executive who would have vetted their candidate prior to putting his corflutes around Canberra.
Even more contemptible than Green’s words are his party’s attempt to excuse them with words like “passionate” and “confronting”.
You have to love the Greens. If I said ‘f..k so-and-so’ the Greens would call it hate speech and have me, well, hung. But if they say the exact same thing, it’s ‘impassioned’ and they deserve a spot in Parliament.
And don’t forget, Labor are in coalition with the Greens in the ACT. So much for principles.
Now you might gain some comfort by knowing this is an ACT Greens candidate and he is being excused by the ACT Greens leadership.
But that’s cold comfort really.
That the Greens are doing so well in the ACT is not encouraging. These are the people our bureaucrats elect! That is truly frightening.
Remember, the ACT was the only place in the country to vote ‘Yes’ to the Indigenous Voice to Parliament. They are wholly unrepresentative of the rest of the nation and yet determining so much of the nation’s direction.
I sometimes think Australia would be a wonderful country if we just separated ourselves from Canberra.
And from Melbourne.
Separated from Canberra. What a divine thought.
Being kept in the dark due to the tyranny of distance over here in WA (in some ways a blessing I guess), I had no idea about the shenanigans that this terrorist fronting as a tree hugger was carrying on like this. Obviously the ACT Law Enforcement are either powerless or just turn a blind eye to these inflammatory remarks. I know politics is a dirty business, but obviously the Greens have taken it to lower depths and are hell bent on setting new records for unacceptable behaviour! Very unAustralian behaviour really where our previous culture was all about a fair go and camaraderie. A very sad indictment on the current state of affairs and I also note no comments from Labor forthcoming! As you say James, if you said it you would be lambasted, hung, drawn and quartered! Well done James for once again speaking out the truth and not hiding behind shadows or party politics. Thank you again.
