The British Government is being urged to ban marriage between first cousins.
Cue cries of incestophobia!
I assumed such marriages were already illegal. But no.
It’s illegal to marry your child and it is illegal to marry your sibling, but it is not currently illegal to marry your first cousin.
Most Brits have understood from history what happened when royals married too closely - the rates of birth deformities doubles - and so abhor the practice.
But mass immigration has changed the face of Britain, and suddenly kissing cousins are a thing.
A thing that is going to cost the NHS a fortune if it is not stamped out.
And any Brit travelling abroad - by which I mean travelling to Birmingham - can see it is a problem.
