The Left's Great Pretence
Why Pauline Hanson’s critics would rather play dumb than debate multiculturalism's failures
Have you ever noticed how often left-wing politicians pretend not to understand the most obvious things?
That habit has been in overdrive ever since Pauline Hanson told the Press Club that multiculturalism wasn’t working.
“We are a multiracial society, but we must be monocultural. Australians must live under the one cultural umbrella.”
I was in the room.
What the One Nation leader meant was so obvious that only a Leftie could miss it.
Pauline Hanson meant that Australia was rapidly becoming a nation of tribes who had nothing - not even the English language - in common.
We can’t even agree on a flag.
Hanson didn’t quote Jesus, but she may as well have.
A house divided against itself cannot sand.
It’s not a difficult concept to comprehend.
But oh how the Left have struggled to understand what Hanson meant.
Take former Labor heavyweight Craig Emerson, for example. Yesterday he tweeted …
“Neither the Coalition nor One Nation supports multiculturalism, which has enjoyed bipartisan support for decades.
”Does this mean Buddhists and Hindus would have to renounce Buddhism and Hinduism if they want to migrate to Australia? And permanent residents?
”Please explain.”
Imagine calling yourself “doctor” and spewing this nonsense.
Either Emerson is a complete moron, or he’s having a lend of us.
And tempting as it is to believe the former, trust me, it’s the latter …
