The ascension of a moderate to lead the Liberal Party means is now a big opportunity for a third force to rise in Australian politics.
Think about it.
The Labor Party no longer represents the working class.
And the Liberal Party no longer represents conservatives.
Both parties have abandoned their core constituents in a never ending competition for the niche votes of disaffected groups.
This means they have moved further and further left, with no signs of that trajectory abating.
As a result, the primary vote of both parties is now at its lowest ebb in history.
Neither of the nation’s two major political parties can muster more than a third of the population to support them.
The Liberals are on the nose. But don’t be fooled - so too is the Labor Party. Thirty five percent primary vote is hardly a ringing endorsement.
The federal poll was a pox on both their houses.
While pandering to the grievances of various identity groups - grievances the parties themselves have stirred up - they offer barely any substantive plans for addressing the very real problems facing our nation …
