Absenteese's Pre-Election Makeover Has Worn Off
The more Australians see of Albanese - which is not that much unless you're holidaying overseas - the less they like
Sometimes we need a Labor government in power for a short period just to remind us what would happen if we ever gave them a long period in government.
When Anthony Albanese came to power 18 months ago I had low expectations. He has under-perfomed even the lowest of my low expectations at every turn.
And it hasn’t taken long. At the half-way point of this government’s first term there is now talk that this government could be a one-term wonder.
Let’s hope so.
According to the latest Newspoll, released today, Labor’s primary vote has crashed to just 31 per cent. That’s less than it’s election vote in May last year.
Meanwhile, satisfaction with Absenteese’s performance as Prime Minister has slumped to just 40 per cent.
Dissatisfaction with Airbus Albo is at 53 per cent.
That’s a net approval rating of minus 13 points - his worst since the election.
In other words, the more Australians see of Albanese (and let’s be honest, he’s hardly been here) the less we like.
Foreign policy?
Disaster.
We are China’s bitch. We are the South Pacific’s ATM. We are Israel’s most duplicitous friend.
National security?
This government allows dangerous criminals into the community with nary a plan to protect the public.
Next minute, this government quietly imports almost 1000 Palestinians from a hotbed or anti-Semitism. They do this at the very time we are trying to contain rising anti-Semitism at home.
Are they completely stupid? Or reckless. Or worse?
Defence?
I’ve seen under 10s netball teams better equipped to repel an attack.
Our sailors were attacked by a Chinese warship recently, and the PM didn’t even bother to raise it with Xi Jinping. Next time Anthony “Handsome Boy” Albanese boasts about restoring relations with China, keep in mind that he means bending over.
Economic management?
There is none.
You name an economic problem - from high interest rates to grocery prices - it’s not the government’s fault. It’s the war in Ukraine.
But don’t worry, they have a plan. Just ask treasurer Jim Chalmers. It’s just that we haven’t seen it. And what we have seen is completely contradictory.
The Albanese government wants to deal with inflation, without cutting spending. They want to import record numbers of immigrants, whilst reducing the demand for housing. They want to raise wages, without any plan for increasing productivity. They want to spend billions completely rewriting the entire electricity grid, whilst promising lower prices. They want to reach Net Zero, while demonising nuclear power.
The internal contradictions never end.
Energy policy?
Chris Bowen is in charge of it.
Say no more.
Bowen never held a ministerial position he didn’t completely stuff up.
By the way, got your $275 power bill saving yet? No? Exactly. And you never will, despite the fact Albanese promised it 97 times prior to the election.
Did I mention social cohesion?
The government divided us by race over their referendum vanity project and now sit on their hands as Jew haters wreck havoc on their fellow Australians.
Want to talk about the Covid-19 inquiry, designed specifically by this government to mask the many failings of their state Labor mates.
Should we mention the NIDS that now supports more than half a million Australians, and is now completely unsustainable yet completely unaddressed?
This is an inept and duplicitous government that is becoming worse by the day.
It’s hard to imagine a government engaged on so many simultaneous fronts with such half-baked ideas.
Have you watched Anthony Albanese in press conferences over the past few weeks? He looks totally lost. Perhaps it is slowly dawning on him that he is way out of his depth.
It has been obvious to the rest of us for quite some time.
I used to think Labor was good at politicking but terrible at governing. Now I think they are woeful at both.
We are being led by a bunch of career politicians - activists and union officials - with no real life experiences.
Looking at the Newspoll numbers, Labor would likely lose half a dozen seats and be in a minority government if an election were held today.
There is still plenty of time for Albanese to turn things around, but that would require a level of leadership and smarts. And Albanese can't give us what he hasn't got.
Leading up to the election he had a makeover. That illusion has worn thin, and the real Albanese is what is left.
People are fast realising it’s not much.
A succinct summary that only scratches the surface of this inept morass of clueless people. We really did get the government we deserved when people voted for this lot. Told... you... so...
It pains me to see what it will cost us to dig our way out of this hole that they just keep enlarging.
Vacuous and incompetent. Not eve good mangers. Just mad ideologies.
