It was reported today that Disney’s last four feature movies lost one billion dollars between them.
I don’t understand why?
I thought, like Disney, that audiences would love to pay money to be talked down to for 100 minutes by ‘diversity is our strength’ box ticking characters on screen.
Who knew that She-Hulk: Attorney at Law would perform weakly?
This particularly Disney+ series, as just one example, is centred on a Hulk-type character. Except, as the title suggests, Hulk is a woman! And a lawyer!
When not catching bad guys, She-Hulk delivers monolgues on the evils of catcalling.
And who knew that Elemental, released by Disney-owned Pixar, would sink at the box office? I mean, it features a non-binary lake who wears earrings and goes by the pronouns they/them!
Oh, and Pixar made a big deal in their marketing campaign of highlighting the fact that Lake Ripple was voiced by an actual non-binary actor! As if there was one.
Anyway, if you are going to see a Disney feature, I recommend stopping off at the candy bar to get a large Coke. It’ll help get rid of the taste of cold sick left by the movie.
Mardi Gras organisers have forbidden police from marching in uniform at tonight’s gay parade after an officer allegedly shot dead two gay men.
The brutal slaying of TV personality Jesse Baird and Qantas staffer Luke Davies was proof, they said, of continued police brutality toward the LGBTQ community.
Just one problem.
The alleged killer is, himself, gay.
#awkward
So in a bid to promote inclusivity (and to warn against the evils of stereotyping) the rainbow crowd will exclude all police because of the actions of one.
I know that doesn't make sense. But very little about the modern 2SLGBTQ+ movement makes sense.
Cognitive dissonance is, these days, a prerequisite if you wish to be part of that particular community. (Which, incidentally, is why many conservative gays avoid it like the monkey pox).
You cannot, for instance, march for lesbians AND for trans people without, at the same time, standing on your head. Anyone who has been paying attention knows that the trans movement is in the process of cannibalising the lesbian community.
Victorian lesbians were recently denied the right to run an event that did not include blokes in dresses demanding they get in on a little girl-on-girl action.
If a woman is anyone who identifies as a woman (as the trans movement insist) then the only thing anyone can know for sure while watching Dykes on Bikes ride past is that the bikes are bikes.
The strangest contradiction of all, however, remains Queers for Palestine. No amount of glitter can make that one make sense.
Sydney’s Randwick Council wants to remove a 114-year-old statue of James Cook because it is a “reminder of colonial oppression”.
Other reminders of colonial oppression the council might consider erasing include roads, automobiles, plumbing and white faces. But I digress.
Greens Mayor Philipa Veitch said the Cook statue was “divisive”.
Well no-one knows divisiveness like the Greens, I’ll give her that.
If only their knowledge of history was as sharp.
Veitch, not to mention the vandals, is confusing her explorers with her colonisers.
Cook didn’t colonise Australia. Indeed, he died ten years before the first white man ever set foot on these shores.
He was, rather, one of history’s greatest mariners and explorers. Will this colossus of history now be judged by a self-important local councillor who is flat out having her electorate’s bins emptied on time? Seriously?
If the people of Randwick are concerned about ridding the community of divisive symbols, they’ll do something about it at the next mayoral ballot.
British PM Rishi Sunk has warned that “forces” within England are trying to tear the country apart.
Ironically, his warning provided clear evidence as to why these “forces” are succeeding.
Here’s part of what he said …
“Britain's multi-ethnic, multi-faith democracy is being deliberately undermined by forces here at home trying to tear us apart.
"Let us prove these extremists wrong, and show that even when we disagree we will never be disunited from our common values of decency and respect.
"I love this country. Let us all stand together and combat the forces of division".
What does that even mean?
Vagaries, generalities and platitudes do not constitute a call to arms.
Can you imagine Winston Churchill trying to mobilise Great Britain against the um, vibe?
What hope does the West have of defeating the “forces” arrayed against us if we cannot, or simply do not have the courage to call them out?
And here’s another problem. It’s a complete fiction to imagine that a “multi-ethnic, multi-faith” society can be built around the core value of being multi-ethnic and multi-faith.
If you desire a multi-faith state then you must argue for the primacy of the Christian faith since it is the only one that creates the conditions for pluralism.
Why do our elites imagine the cry for “inclusion” and “tolerance” have grown in the soil of Christian nations?
Christianity teaches that the only basis for receiving the grace of God is a frank admission that you are undeserving of it. This creates a culture of humility.
Christianity also teaches that Jesus is the alpha male. And what does the alpha male look like? He looks like a man loving his enemies, and showing kindness to those who persecute him. This creates a culture of loving acceptance.
Now do Islam!
It’s true that Rishi did call out “Islamic extremists” but he also called out “the far right” as if it’s the far right (whoever they are) who have been blocking London streets for months now and threatening MPs with death if they fail to vote the right way on issues relating to Gaza.
If you don’t have the intellectual integrity to credit our Judeo-Christian roots or to call out the oppressive, restrictive, bigoted and violent nature of Islam, you don’t deserve to keep your civilisation.
And if you simply cannot say it, then - for God’s sake - at least say it in your immigration policy!
Joe Biden posted this photo on his twitter feed to celebrate Women’s History Month
Joe Biden is, evidently, a biologist.
On another note, sadly, Laken Riley was unavailable to be photographed. Joe can explain why.
I see what you have done there James. Once again you have blown out of the water the illogical logic of the woke, the lefties, the radicals, the islamists and a lot of confused hypocritical people, simply by using logic. Well done.
The only people in the world with a legitimate complaint against Captain James Cook would be the French Quebec Canadians. Cook did the impossible and charted a route up the dangerous river, which allowed the British army to get up the river. The soldiers were all gaged ( so they couldn't scream if they fell)and ordered to silently climb the cliffs and unexpectedly attack the heavily defended French city from a side that was supposed to be safe from attack. Without Cooks charting the river the French may not have been defeated and so modern Canada might not exist as 1 country.
Cooks experiments with ordering his ships crew on pain of punishment if they refused to eat sour crout, ie vitamin C, resulted in his years long trip around the world resulted in him safely bringing all his crew home again and in good health with none suffering from scurvy or death. Many other previous Captains had had many or most of their crews die from scurvy. His results changed navy history. The British navy after Cook fed all sailors and passengers lime juice( rich in Vit C) to keep them healthy, allowing the British navy to dominate the world and saving hundreds of thousands of lives from scurvy.
His charts of the areas he discovered and mapped were so accurate that N Z only made replacement charts a few years ago.
His scientific intrests and help to Joseph Banks resulted in a great growth in knowledge about plants, animals and marine life.
One of the greatest ships Captains and explorers in all history.
