PM Surrounded by Women

And here I was thinking gender was 'complicated'

The PM and his deputy have shared a photo of themselves surrounded by women on International Women’s Day.

The strange thing this is that you can Anthony Albanese and Richard Marles are surrounded by women, just by looking at the women surrounding them.

You don’t need a glossary of pronouns, or a PhD in woke linguistics to decipher who’s who

There’s no need to carefully seek clarification as to how someone identifies.

They are all very obviously she/hers. Not a single ze/zer in sight.

It’s almost … unsettling in its simplicity.

One can almost imagine a world where reality still works the way it’s supposed to.

I mention this only because, once in a while, a Labor MP or their appointed apparatchik will insist that gender is “complicated.”

It isn’t.

It hasn’t been.

And unless you’re deliberately trying to fail kindergarten, everyone knows it.

So here’s to International Women’s Day: a rare occasion when politics, optics, and reality briefly align - and when you can, just for a moment, admire the miracle of obviousness.
