Trans women are not women. And plant based meat is not meat. Can Independent MP Zali Steggall get anything right?
The Teal member for Warringah sent a message to constituents on Saturday saying …
“Did you know switching one pack of mince per week for a plant based alternative saves around 48kg of CO2 emissions? That’s around 196km in your average car . Warringah constituent Nick Hazel, CEO of @v2foodofficial, is helping Australians make the transition to plant based meat.
Except there’s no such thing as plant based meat, just like there’s no such thing as pregnant men.
Is it just me? Or does this seem like a politician appropriating words, and promoting the moulding of goo into meat shapes?
I suppose cattle eat grass and I eat steak, so I’m only one step away from being a vegan who saves the world every time I snack.
Speaking of saving the world, does the Sydney-based politician know that catching a bus - rather than a plane - to Canberra would produce just one fiftieth of the carbon emissions?
(Okay, I made that statistic up. But it sounded about right in my head. I’m seriously thinking of a career in politics)
And how many plant-based meat meals equate to an overseas skiing holiday? I’m asking for a friend.
While we’re just spit-balling here, if Australia immediately ceased emitting Co2, what effect would it have upon local or global temperatures? What about sea levels?
Crickets. (And by ‘crickets’, I don’t mean the ones the WEF hope you will eat)
If Ms Steggall was serious about saving the planet she would skip the plant based meat stage and recommend we go straight to bugs.
This would allow the global elites to continue flying in their private jets to exotic holiday locations where they could enjoy the lavish lifestyles they deserve.
C'mon people, don't be selfish. Let's do our part. We're all in this together!
The Apostle Paul might have been onto something when he told Timothy …
“The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. They … order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.”
I’m having steak for dinner tonight.
this year is the 350th anniversary of the Dutch eating their prime minister (and his brother).
Something to remember if politicians seek to interfere with our supply of protein.
This stuff makes me insane….
“Eat a country steak. Cow farts are not destroying the planet. Really.”
I’m a farmer, well retired. I wrote that sentence in a rather lengthy piece about food systems at my substack recently (sorry James for plugging it).
Raspberries are plant based.
Romaine lettuce is plant based.
Apples are plant based.
Carrots are plant based.
Meat is not.
Just like almond milk shouldn’t be called “milk”. Ever milked a cow? How about an almond?
Same sort of double-speak with everything.
Makes me insane….
