Palestinians Protesting Hamas Shouldn't Expect Support from Pro-Palestinian Protestors in the West
Talk about conflicted!
What will Pro-Palestinian activists here in Australia make of protests against Hamas in Gaza overnight?
Will the Greens be out in force this weekend calling for the end of Hamas?
Will university students rally on campuses in Sydney and Melbourne to demand the terrorist group to lay down its arms and surrender?
What are the chances Queers for Palestine members will chant “Free free Palestine … from Hamas!”?
The media were reporting this morning that hundreds of Palestinians had protested against Hamas in Gaza for the first time since the start of the 17-month-long war.
A crowd of mostly young men chanted in videos that went viral on social media ...
“Out, Out, Out, Hamas out.”
Hamas terrorists, with not a little help from Palestinian civilians, swarmed into Israel on October 7, 2023, slaughtering 1200 Jewish civilians and taken more than 200 hostage.
The Israeli retaliation has been swift and brutal.
Gaza has been reduced to rubble.
And now - belatedly - a small handful of Gaza’s two million residents seem to have finally had enough.
It’s good that they are now calling for an end to Hamas. But forgive me if I don’t rush to give them credit.
Their complaint is that, after almost two years of war, Gaza has been razzed to the ground.
What a pity they didn’t complain 17 months ago when babies were burned alive or when children along with elderly women were taken as hostages.
If Palestinians really want the war to end, they can let Israel forces know where the remaining hostages are being kept.
Actually, they could have done that yesterday. Or last week. Or last month. Or last year.
They have grown sick of Hamas rule only because their cities lay in waste.
If Jews were still being murdered and kidnapped, the Gazans would be dancing in the streets and handing out lollies, just as they did on October 7.
But now the slaughter and torture of Jews has become too costly even for them.
One Palestinian is seen on a video that has gone viral saying …
“Hamas is demanding our people to remain steadfast. But how can we remain steadfast when we’re dying and bleeding? Hamas must stop what is happening in Gaza.”
It’s not exactly a repudiation of terrorism, or of killing Jews. It’s more a weary sigh that killing Jews has stopped being fun.
The Palestinian man said …
“We’re sending a message to the entire world: We reject the rule of Hamas.”
I wonder if Penny Wong will hear their message. Perhaps she will make a speech in which she singularly condemns Hamas, without equivocation.
I wonder if those keffiyeh-loving academics in our woke universities will hear the Gazans?
What will Greta Thunberg and her fellow lefties do if Israel comes to the Palestinians’ rescue? Talk about a condundrum.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Western liberals feel betrayed by Gazans wanting to be free of Hamas. After all, it suddenly shines a light on the true villains in this entire episode. And it’s not the Israelis.
I’m not sure Western lefties can tolerate that message.
The progressive left don’t love Palestinians. They hate Jews.
And so brave Gazans calling, albeit late in the day, for the end of Hamas will be ignored both by their Islamist captors and by their ‘friends’ in the West.
I hope we never never stop commenting on the Israel/Middle East situation.
We should never ever forget Oct 07 2023
Forgive if I won’t take these people seriously. They are upset that Gaza had been razed to the ground. Give me a break!
Just set the hostages free. Let the IDF know where the dead ones are.
