The relentless push toward a cashless society is lunacy. Just ask any Optus customer.
When the Optus system crashed at 4am yesterday, around 10 million Australians went dark - unable to make calls and, worse, unable to access vital services like online banking.
The only Optus customers not put out by the catastrophic system failure were those in the Italian community.
Sure, they couldn’t make calls, but they were still able to access funds.
They just went to their bedrooms, grabbed the piles of cash under their mattresses, and carried on as if nothing had happened.
