The best social commentary you’ll hear sung today …
Oliver was struggling in life, and drinking to cope.
He says that a bit over a month ago he reached the depths of despair.
He says he’s not a particularly religious person, but he got on his knees and, through tears, prayed.
It was one of those ‘God if I do this, will you do that?’ kinda prayers.
He promised God he would get sober if God. And he asked God to help him with his dream.
Oliver was about 30 days sober when asked if he would record a song for a YouTube channel.
He recorded this song, "Rich Men North of Richmond."
Within a couple of days it has had millions of views and is now number one on iTunes. Oliver joined Twitter a few days ago and already has more than 300,000 followers.
His song is on track to become the official anthem for working men and women.
This work in this man, God has done. Like an arrow. God will do it.
This is a reminder that God has not ignored us, nor has he abandoned us or forgotten about us during these times of evil and injustice, but is in fact, very near to us. I pray that God will continue to bless and encourage Oliver Anthony.
