Penny Wong announces funds for UNRWA despite links to Hamas
The Albanese Government seems to have decided that since they are well on track to financially bankrupt us, they might as well go the whole hog and morally bankrupt us as well.
How else to understand their incomprehensible decision to resume funding to the UN Relief and Works Agency in Gaza?
Penny Wong went to the Middle East earlier this year with our cheque book, announcing $6m in extra funding for UNRWA’s humanitarian efforts.
And, to be fair, she did ask nicely that they not use Australian taxpayer money for terrorism.
But just five minutes later, when it was revealed that large numbers of UNRWA staff had links to Hamas, Penny Wong was forced to pause the funding, pending an investigation.
The investigation has not yet finished. But Wong has decided to resume sending our money to the agency anyway.
This is despite the fact that Israeli officials have told our government UNRWA is “beyond repair” and “must be stopped”.
Here’s what our government has been told …
15 UNRWA staff had direct involvement in the October 7 attack, crossing into Israel to help slaughter and kidnap Jews.
2,135 UNRWA employees are active members of a terrorist organisation.
1,650 of the agency’s employees are Hamas members.
485 UNRWA staff are operatives in the military wings of Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
18 UNRWA school principals in Gaza are combat militants
32 UNRWA facilities either host terrorist infrastructure or are located within 20 metres of Hamas tunnels, tunnel shafts, rocket launch sites, command centres and arms warehouses.
Two schools, including the Maghazi Prep B Boys School and the Zaitun Prep A Boys School, were found by Israeli intelligence to have tunnels underneath them managed by Hamas military wing members.
The UNRWA headquarters in Gaza was located above a 700 metre long, 18 metre deep tunnel which hosted a “sever-farm” which served as the heart of the Hamas communications network.
The Israeli security services have a formidable reputation for accuracy and reliability.
And yet Penny Wong has decided to recommence funding to UNRWA right after she was presented with numerous and overwhelming reasons not to.
Wong should explain in detail why she doesn't believe Israel.
Or maybe she thinks UNRWA’s links to Hamas are irrelevant.
Let’s be honest, there are just too many Muslim votes at stake for Labor not to re-instate UNRWA funding, no matter what the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade know about its terrorist links.
If you or I fund a terror organisation we will be prosecuted. When the Labor government do it via UNRWA, they get extra votes.
It would be laughable if it wasn’t so outrageous.
Penny Wong insists …
“(UNRWA was) not a terrorist organisation, and that existing and additional safeguards sufficiently protect Australian taxpayer funding.”
She said a funding agreement between UNRWA and Australia included “stringent conditions such as guarantees of staff neutrality”.
Wong: Promise you guys are not in cahoots with terrorists?
UNRWA: Allah Akbar. We promise.
Wong: No, come on guys, I need guarantees.
UNRWA: We pinky swear we are good guys who only ever go full Jihad when it is absolutely necessary, like to slaughter Jews.
Wong: Well, since you pinky sweared … Now how are plans for the Gaza Gay Pride March coming along?
UNRWA: The Pride March will be special Inshallah. Come to Gaza and we’ll arrange a special viewing spot for your and your new wife atop one of our few remaining buildings. Allah Akbar!
The naivety is breathtaking.
Wong’s decision to resume sending our money to UNRWA comes before two investigations into the agency have even been completed.
The probes by the UN Office of Internal Oversight Services has not yet finished.
And a separate review headed by former French foreign minister Catherine Colonna to assess the neutrality of UNRWA and its efforts to ensure neutrality is still ongoing.
The real irony is that in trying to provide assistance to the people of Gaza, our Government only helps to prolong the war.
Money given to UNRWA will be channelled to Hamas and the people of the region will continue to suffer.
Labor moves seamlessly from inept to sinister. The secret is to never vote for them. Reasonable people never do.
Onward Israel.
Penny Wong does not give a rip about what the taxpayers of Australia think. She has been on the teat for so long she has forgotten where the money she loves to spend comes from... She just puts her hand towards the printing press.
Unaccountable.
Unjustifiable.
This offends me so deeply. I saw Douglas Murray in Perth, he could set her right on a few facts about her beloved Gazans.
Dear God, I do hope she loses her seat at the next election.
I was under the impression that in Australia, the funding of terrorists is a criminal offense. If that is so, when will the line be drawn concerning Penny Wong's actions here, with regard to funding the UNRWA (terrorists, in other words)?
I am so sick of the fact that there is no accountability, no consequences whatsoever, for what I consider criminal behaviour amongst our politicians. Perhaps the opposition should step in here and say something or do something???
