The Assistant Minister for a Republic insists he still has important work to do despite agreeing that a republic is no longer a priority for the government.

The Assistant Minister for something that won’t happen earns an extra 25 per cent on his base salary for the role.

That’s pretty good coin for looking out a window.

Which is ironic since Matt Thistlethwaite said the government was putting the republic on hold so it could focus on cost of living.
