The Case for a Return to Cannibalism
Cannibalism is environmentally friendly and a way of showing respect for dearly departed loved ones, according to the media
New Scientist has just published an article normalising cannibalism. I have to admit, we live in crazy times but did NOT see this one coming.
The article was headlined …
“Our human ancestors often ate each other, and for surprising reasons”
It argued that …
“Cannibalism was surprisingly common among prehistoric humans. And new ways of analysing the leftovers challenge our negative stereotypes about this taboo subject.”
Wait. When they say “leftovers” …….
Anyway, I read the article and my negative stereotype of cannibalim has not been challenged at all.
Except for surviving on a mountain top after a plane crash, you just don't eat other people. Ever. Or at least not without large dollops of tomato sauce.
The author, whose freezer should definitely be raided by the FBI, lamented that …
“Positive stories of cannibals are few and far between.”
It’s so weird how all those people who went to the cannibal’s home for dinner just never got around to posting a review online. Hmm.
By the way, the article was published on Valentines Day. Should we read anything into that? Sometimes it pays not to think too hard about these things. I digress.
