GQ Magazine has announced that their man of the year is Kim Kardashian.
This is what happens when the editorial team misunderstand the assignment.
The American socialite and mother of four will feature on the cover of next month’s special ‘Men of the Year’ edition.
Now I know what you’re thinking. How can a woman be Man of the Year?
Well, sure, and how can Joe Biden be President of the United States?
You see? Suddenly Kim Kardashian as Man of the Year isn’t the craziest thing happening in the world right now.
Previous GQ Men of the Year include George Clooney, Chris Hemsworth and Tom Cruise.
Those were the days.
Newly minted best man of 2023 Kim Kardashian posted a photo of herself with the caption …
Hi! I’m the GQ Man of the Year!
The irony was thick.
You know the culture is in the toilet when even the cultural icons themselves are mocking it.
And in case you’re wondering, no, Kim Kardashian has not embraced her inner gender-fluid he/him.
You don’t get to be worth more than a billion dollars by doing silly things, sex tape with Ray J notwithstanding. (More of that later)
Kardashian has simply cut out the middle man, if you’ll pardon the pun. No point bothering with the pretence of being trans in a culture where nothing means anything anyway.
She’s the female Man of the Year. It doesn’t make sense, but it doesn’t need to make sense in a culture that celebrates nonsense.
In fact, not making sense is kind of the point. Kim Kardashian worked that out early in life, and has made a career out of it.
For Kim Kardashian, it’s literally all about the bottom line.
While she has dabbled in music, film, television, fashion and perfume, her main product is drama. Influencers are the stars of their own soap opera and they have to shake up the narrative every so often. They manufacture regular plot twists so as to invent their own victimhood and keep themselves in the public eye.
When people realize they're useless, they stir up more drama to change the subject.
This is how influencers have trashed the culture.
