"Just Two More Words ..."

They may take Trump's freedom, but they can't take his wit

Love him or loath him, there’s no denying Trump has a wicked sense of humour and is quick on his feet.

I had to share this story from the Trump trial in New York where jurors have just been sent to deliberate on a verdict.

You are probably aware that Trump has been the subject of a gag order to prevent him from commenting on proceedings over the past few weeks.

The judge was concerned Trump’s comments, and acerbic asides, would intimidate jury members and court officials.

Anyway, this exchange did make me laugh …

Judge Merchan had ruled against Trump’s lawyer again and again.

Finally, Donald Trump lost his temper and said “What a moron!”

The judge, flushed with anger, shouted, “$1,000 fine!”

Trump was astonished.

“$1,000 dollars?! I said three words.”

The judge replied …

“Those three words were contempt of court, and that’s a $1,000 fine.”

Trump got out his wallet and started looking through it.

Thinking there had been a misunderstanding, Judge Merchan calmed down a bit and told the former President …

“You don’t have to pay now.”

Trump shot back …

“No, I’m just checking to see if I have enough cash on me for two more words.... just two more!”
