If "Trump is Hitler", Who was Hitler?
10 Reasons the "Trump is Hitler" narrative is the most insane part of this election
We have been told for months that Trump is Hitler.
Of all the narratives surrounding the US election, it is this one that has been the most shocking.
Does anyone seriously believe that Donald J Trump is the modern incarnation of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler?
And yet Democrats and the media - but I repeat myself - have told us over and over again that the Republican candidate is to 2024 what the leader of the Third Reich was to 1933.
Here are ten problems with the Trump is Hitler narrative …
1. Trump Wasn’t Hitler From 2016-2020
The insanity of the Trump is Hitler narrative is that one can easily look back on the recent past in order to prove that it is not true.
Trump was in the White House between 2016 and 2020 and there was nothing Hitlerian about his presidency.
2. “Trump is Hitler” Trivialises Hitler
First we trivialised racism by calling everyone who disagrees with us a racist. Now opponents of Trump trivialise evil by calling him Hitler.
Trump posts inappropriate tweets. Hitler gassed six million Jews.
To suggest that one is like the other is to commit the grave evil of minimising evil for rank political advantage.
If everyone is Hitler then, of course, no-one is Hitler.
When we bend language for something that doesn’t fit, we always break it. And what then do we have left to communicate that Hitler is a Hitler if ever a second Hitler does arise?
3. “Trump is Hitler” Minimises the Holocaust
The Democrats and their cheerleaders in the mainstream media have minimised the Holocaust in which six million Jews were killed.
What sort of people do that?
To insist that Trump is Hitler is to trample all over the memory of those who suffered unimaginable atrocities at the hands of the Nazi regime.
Nazism has, until now, remained a solemn category of one. And for good reason.
Not before, nor since, has such evil been committed by human beings.
Saying that Trump is Hitler does not elevate Trump to a level of grotesque evil so much as reduce grotesque evil to a level of banality.
What a thing to do!
4. “Trump is Hitler” Justifies Assassination Attempts
It is not at all a surprise that there have been two assassination attempts against Donald Trump in this election campaign. The surprise is that there have not been more!
If Trump is Hitler, then why not kill him? Someone should!
Christian minister Dietrich Bonhoeffer is regarded as a hero today because he tried to kill Adolf Hitler. Would that he had succeeded. Millions of lives would have been saved.
The narrative is an incitement to violence. That the narrative continued after two assassination attempts is despicable.
5. “Trump is Hitler” Justifies Cheating
Let’s imagine Orange Man Bad is a modern Adolf Hitler. Then isn’t everything and anything justified in stopping him?
Why would there not be cheating in order to prevent him from winning the election?
From local ballot officials to voting machine technicians to election scrutineers, why wouldn’t they cheat, rig and steal the election in order to stop the devil. Wouldn’t you?
So the narrative is a green light to those who would cheat and an encouragement to think of themselves as patriots as they do so.
6. “Trump is Hitler” Justifies Refusing to Validate the Result
If assassins fail, and if the vote for Trump is simply too great to overcome by smuggling in fake ballots for Harris during the night, then the last resort might be to refuse to validate his election.
Would those in the Electoral College really vote to install Hitler in the White House?
How could they justify that after warning the world for months that Trump was Hitler?
It would make no sense to willingly inaugurate Hitler as President.
Trump is not Hitler but the claim that he is sets the scene for a democratic election to be overturned. The irony, of course, is that the Democrats accuse Trump of being the threat to democracy.
7. “Trump is Hitler” Destroys Civil Discourse
When US band Tenacious D toured Australia a few months back, band member Kyle Gass told a huge Sydney crowd that his birthday wish was “Don’t miss Trump next time”.
If you watch the video, you can hear many in the audience laugh and cheer.
Gass has since apologised, as he ought. But what he said, not to mention the audience reaction, should have sent chills through everyone.
How do you have civil discourse when people are openly calling for the murder of those with whom they disagree?
If ever this is normalised - and I would argue Gass and the like went dangerously close - there is no more civil society, only anarchy.
The Democrats and all those who have repeated the Trump is Nazi line have been playing a very dangerous game that imperils us all.
8. “Trump is Hitler” Rots the Souls of Those Who Proclaim It
Imagine becoming so filled with bitter hatred that you actually wish for the death of your political opponent. And yet that is exactly where so many anti-Trumpers have ended up.
They listened to his rhetoric, got offended by his tweets and felt such hatred that it overrode their basic moral framework.
There’s an old expression that says: Every time you point the finger at someone else, there are three fingers pointing back at you.
Those who insist that Trump is Hitler say less about the soul of Donald Trump and far more about the weeds they have allowed to grow in their own moral consciousness.
9. “Trump is Hitler” Ignores the Fact So Many Trump Supporters are Jews
Trumps recent rally at Madison Square Garden had so many Jews in attedence that calling it a Nazi rally was actually quite comical.
If Trump is a Nazi, then he is the most inept Nazi ever. The Jews love him.
Indeed, few US presidents in history have been such great supporters of the State of Israel.
Don’t forget, it was Trump who moved the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem - something other presidents had promised but never done.
10. “Trump is Hitler” Collapses if Trump Wins
Let’s imagine Trump wins back the White House.
Will Kamala Harris, who boasted during the campaign that “anyone breaking into my house is getting shot”, not use her own gun to take him out?
Will Tim Walz, who insisted the Madison Square Garden rally was a Nazi rally, not use his bare hands to kill Donald Trump and thus save America from certain doom?
Of course they won’t.
Joe Biden has already said that he will attend the inauguration if Trump wins. Wait. What? But Trump is Hitler! How could you agree to be present as Hitler is crowned?
Well, they say, Trump is Hitler but he is also incompetent. So it won’t be that bad.
A Trump victory dooms America to not only be governed by Hitler, but the trains won’t even run on time!
These people are not serious people. They are liars. They are manipulators. And they do not deserve to be rewarded for their malfeasance.
Such ignorance is inexcusable! Desperate indeed are the Democrats. There is an evil spirit afoot but it isn't Donald Trump. For anyone to believe that Trump is Hitler, they don't read History.
Trump has shown that he wants to help, and not harm, the Jewish people and the State of Israel. So how can anyone portray him as being anything like Hitler, the Jew-hater?
