If Beheaded Babies Cannot Inspire 'Moral Clarity', Can Anything?
Reaction to the Hamas attack on Israel has been as frightening as it has been enlightening
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week insisted the beheading of Jewish babies by Hamas terrorists should be a moment of “moral clarity”.
You’d think so, wouldn’t you?
And yet, for the past two weeks we have seen nothing but moral confusion around the Western world.
It has been as frightening as it has been enlightening.
The latest example of moral malaise comes from the UK where vans displaying digital images of Jewish children being held hostage in Gaza were surrounded by a pro-Palestinian mob as they drove through London.
The images showed the hostages, along with their names and ages.
The signs say …
“Kidnapped by Hamas. Bring them back”
As one of the vans drove past Big Ben in central London this week, it was surrounded and stopped by protestors yelling …
“One, two, three, four … occupation no more. Five, six, seven, eight … Israel is a terrorist state”
Police, responding to the situation, pulled over all the digital signage vans in London and told them to turn off the billboards and clear out of the CBD, otherwise they would be in breach of the peace.
Riddle me this …
How is it that the British police can stop people in London from showing the pictures of children kidnapped by a terrorist organisation that is banned by the British government?
You ought not use Breach of the Peace laws to stop someone peacefully protesting. If other people react violently to the protest, well then they are the ones who cause a Breach of the Peace, not the peaceful protesters.
But to arrest people upholding the law in anticipation that others might break the law is a sick joke.
Police told drivers of the vans that the order to stop showing the digital images of kidnapped Jews was for their own safety.
“We want to make sure that they (drivers of the van) are safe, that their property is safe, and what we don’t want is people doing any damage to their vans.”
Who were the police really protecting?
Were they protecting the van drivers?
Were they protecting the community?
Or were they protecting the sensibilities of people who support baby beheading terrorists?
‘For your own safety’ is a trope that is continually used to silence good people while empowering extremists and their sympathisers.
And so, as it turned out, it wasn’t the pro-Palestinians who shut down a campaign to rescue Jews kidnapped by terrorists, it was the London police.
I’m not quite old enough to remember it, but I’m told there was a time when the British had the spine to stand up to evil.
There was a day when British citizens crossed the English Channel in their own boats to rescue Brits from the Nazis.
Today the descendants of those Brits are too afraid to show the faces of kidnapped children for fear of upsetting their fellow Brits who don’t mind a bit of baby killing in the name of Allah Akbar.
Police expect violence from a certain group, and they try their level best to not give that group any reason to become violent.
It all feels a bit like surrender to me.
Don't show the faces of kidnapped children in case those who sympathise with the kidnapper's plight are offended! That’s where we are now.
British police, like so many institutions around the Western world, are petrified of offending Muslims. And if we can be honest for just a moment, it doesn’t seem to take much to offend them.
One of the bizarrest features of western society is our love of importing Islamists to live amongst us, and then our craven cowardice when they do.
Or is it less cowardice than that police know they just aren't actually capable of maintaining the peace if the Islamist contingent we have imported to compensate for our own low birth rates decide to riot?
And so we now have cities in which you can march with a mask covering your face chanting “from the river to the sea”, but you cannot show the faces of Jewish kids stolen from their parents by terrorists because that is offensive.
This past fortnight we have been given a stark reminder of just how bad antisemitism is.
I suspect the few sane people left in the world (by which I mean readers of The James Macpherson Report) will be shocked at just how quickly the narrative changed from revulsion at the slaughter of Jews to ‘yeah but what about …’
Perhaps that “moral clarity” of which Benjamin Netanyahu spoke is coming. I fear it is not. And that means danger for more than just the Jews.
Oil and water have never mixed. Take Australia, most immigration came from like-minded countries with a Christian heritage, for example Italy, Greece, Ireland, England. To encourage immigration of a people who follow a religion which, when you take time to read their handbook, and observe the practices of a large number of them, want you done and dusted, is pure madness. Just the other day the First Minister/Prime Minister of Scotland encouraged migration of people from Gaza to Scotland. Can you imagine the potential outcome in years ahead? Of course he is inviting people of his own faith.
Bizarre and Cowardice... two words that struck me as key. Sad and sorry state we are in, living in the western world today.
