EVERY time Democrats don't get their way, they scream that they're going to leave the country. But they never do.
Less talk, more action please!
The latest celebrity to threaten to leave America is Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong.
Armstrong told fans this week he intends to renounce his United States citizenship following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Performing at London Stadium, he told the crowd:
“F#$k America, I’m f#$king renouncing my citizenship. I’m f#$king coming here.”
That’ll teach the Supreme Court justices!
What will America ever do without one more self-important entertainer who thinks marginal talent makes him an expert on everything, including constitutional law?
Speaking of music, you can’t be punk and give up. It’s one or the other, Billie!
It’ll be a shame to lose Billie Joe Armstrong because America really… nope, sorry, I tried but no-one cares whether he stays or goes.
Look at it from the pro-abortion perspective he claims to represent.
Women lose self determination in a vote conducted primarily by men.
And this man's response is … “Right then, I'm off!”
That’s one less vote for abortion when laws are put to the people. So much for supporting women!
Who was it again that sang “American Idiot”?
Oh well, once Armstrong renounces his citizenship he won’t be American anymore.
If the UK won’t have him, he could move to Canada with Bette Midler who threatened - but never made good on the threat - to deport herself when Trump became president.
Barbra Streisand is another who promised to move but didn’t.
Then there’s Snoop Dogg, Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston and Lena Dunham, to name just a few Democrats who - sadly for America - never made good on their promises.
I can imagine Armstrong and celebrity friends protesting lack of bodily autonomy by moving to Canada …
“Right. That does it. If America won’t respect bodily autonomy we’re off to Canada … just as soon as we get our 18th booster shot to satisfy the Canadian government.”
Who was it again that sang “Jackass”?
Armstrong told concert goers:
“There’s just too much f#$king stupid in the world to go back to that miserable f#$king excuse for a country.”
Armstrong’s plan isn’t without merit. By moving to the UK he dilutes the “f$%king stupid” in America by helping to spread it more evenly around the world.
So the Supreme Court decision wasn’t all bad. After all, ‘his passport, his choice’ right?
But, of course, Armstrong won’t leave America.
If you're serious, you just do it.
If you’re looking for free press, you announce it at a show, generating much needed exposure for a has been band. Because no-one performs “justice” like American celebrities.
Hilarious, James. I wonder why no one seems to be able to actually bring themselves to leave? Perhaps (horrible, patriarchal, misogynistic, transphobic, homophobic, racist, everything-else-bad) America is a comparatively great place to live after all... the alternatives don't look so good.
Funny again. And you're right James - WHO CARES! "What will America ever do without one more self-important entertainer who thinks marginal talent makes him an expert on everything, including constitutional law?" Hahaha
