Elmo Gets Vaccinated

A Cautionary Tale

CNN reported this week that Elmo had received the Covid-19 vaccine.

Now I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking how can this be news? Well it’s not … that’s why it was on CNN!

The public service announcement released on Tuesday by Sesame Street, and breathlessly reported by the newshounds at CNN, is aimed at encouraging children under five to get the jab.

For context Elmo is 3 and a half years old. Or at least he would be if he were a human child rather than a soft inanimate toy.

Elmo’s father Louie says …

"Was it safe? Was it the right decision?'I talked to our pediatrician so I could make the right choice. I learned that Elmo getting vaccinated is the best way to keep himself, our friends, neighbors and everyone else healthy and enjoying the things they love.”

Anyway, it’s great that Elmo is double vaxxed and boosted. If only they could have convinced Oscar The Grouch to reverse his anti-vaxxing position.

Sadly, Oscar perished from COVID in mid-2021.

NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard said Oscar had underlying health conditions and was not vaccinated.

An angry Mr Hazzard told reporters …

“I will say this to the disbelievers, the disbelievers that we still have watching the Muppets - wake up to yourselves. The Muppets are telling us that this virus will keep killing us and keep putting us in hospital, unless we get vaccinated.”

Sesame Street did not say why Elmo had waited a year and a half to get jabbed.

Nor did they say whether Elmo would be vaccinated against the Monkey Pox, like Bert and Ernie.

Edit 8pm:

Sesame Street confirmed last night that Elmo was in hospital after a bad reaction to the vaccine.

Edit 11.53pm:

Sesame Street announced late last night that Elmo had died unexpectedly.

Elmo’s father Louie told journalists:

“Imagine how bad his death would have been if he had not been vaccinated!”

What a muppet!
