Dutton Smear Shows Albanese's Leadership is Terminal
We have a lightweight PM who has surrounded himself with lighter-weights
I obviously misheard when Anthony Albanese promised he would raise the standards of Parliament. He must have said “raze” the standards since that is exactly what he is doing.
Smearing Liberal leader Peter Dutton as a “pedophile protector” is beyond contemptible and makes a mockery of Absentese’s promised “kinder, gentler” politic.
And yet this is what they decided to do in a desperate bid to cover up their gross mismanagement of asylum seeker policy.
The government failed to prevent an asylum seeker who raped a child from being released into the community.
And then, to compound their ineptitude, they failed to ensure the child rapist was adequately monitored when in the community.
So what would they do to rectify the situation, and to restore public confidence? I can picture the Labor Cabinet meeting …
Albo: “Crap. We’re failing on border security, immigration and asylum seeker policy. How do we fix this mess?”
Cabinet: (Crickets)
Albo: “What if we call the Opposition Leader a pedophile protector?”
Cabinet: “Yeeees!!!!”
Minister Anika Wells: “I’m on the Today Show this morning. I could smear Dutts as a pedophile protector on breakfast teleivsion!”
Cabinet: “Yeeees!!!!”
Clare O’Neil: “And I’ll be making a speech in Parliament later today. I can call him a pedophile protector too!”
Cabinet: “Yeeees!!!!”
Albo: “Well that’s our asylum seeker policy sorted then. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a plane to catch.”
It’s desperate. It’s juvenile. And it’s tawdry.
But worse, it’s highly defamatory.
