Islamic jihadis murdered 1400 people in a brutal terrorist attack on October 7.
They also took more than 200 people - including children - hostages.
Yesterday in Sydney an estimated 50,000 people marched and chanted, but not for the hostages.
Tens of thousands of people blocked Sydney traffic marching against the nation trying to get its hostages back.
I listened intently during the hour long pro-Palestinian rally in Hyde Park. There was no mention of the October 7 terror attack that precipitated this war. Nor was there any mention of the hostages.
And while we are continually told that we must differentiate Hamas from the Palestinian people, there was no attempt whatsoever to do that at the pro-Palestine rally.
There was no mention of Hamas cutting off the heads of babies. But people were very upset that Israel had cut off the internet in Gaza. Watching porn is a human right!
We were treated to continual, repetitive chants that alternated between …
“Free, free Palestine”
… and the more sinister
“From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”.
At one point “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” was immediately followed by a chant of …
“Always was, always will be Aboriginal land”.
Wait, I thought. The Jews have stolen Aboriginal land as well?!
As one of the pro-Palestine rally speakers told the thronging crowd …
“Australia is an imperialist regime.”
I guess that’s why so many in the crowd immigrated here! But I digress.
The continual attempt to link the grievances of the Palestinian people with the grievances of Australian Aboriginals was not subtle.
